Paterson Catholic, St. Anthony

Kyle Anderson Jr., one of the top sophomores in the nation, will play for St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley next year with Paterson Catholic set to close in June.

“He’s going to go to St. Anthony,” Kyle Anderson Sr. said. “Bob Hurley is a Hall of Fame coach. Transportation is easy because I work in Jersey City and I just think it’s the best fit for him to help him transition to the next level.”

A 6-foot-8, 215-pound North Bergen, N.J. native, Anderson has interest from Miami, Georgetown, Kentucky, La Salle, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Seton Hall.

A natural point guard, he can play virtually any position on the floor.

Arizona, Arkansas, Miami, Paterson Catholic, South Kent, St. John's, UConn

Kadeem Jack was set to announce his college choice Wednesday on SNY.tv, but instead appears headed to prep school, possibly South Kent (Conn).

“Kadeem said that he is not making any commitments to college. He is considering prep school,” Rice High School coach Maurice Hicks wrote in a text.

The 6-foot-9 Jack is considering UConn, Arizona, Arkansas, St. John’s and Miami. Instead, it appears he will spend a year prepping in order to mature physically and basketball-wise.

Coaching moves, Creighton, Rutgers

Dayton coach Brian Gregory is reportedly a candidate for the Rutgers’ vacancy, but he says he hasn’t had any official conversations with Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti and is not interested in the job.

“I’m not interested in leaving Dayton. … I’m concerned with helping this team and the incoming players have a great summer and continuing to recruit the guys who can help us in the future,” Gregory told Doug Harris of the Dayton Daily News.

Gregory was reportedly offered the jobs at Boston College and Iowa but turned them down. He has a contract at Dayton that runs through 2018.

Maryland

Sterling Gibbs didn’t need Skype, a press conference or a slew of reporters to make his college announcement.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Seton Hall Prep junior point guard committed to Maryland via Facebook Monday night.

“Yeah, I committed,” he said by phone. “I decided just to put it out there and not go with the whole press conference thing.”

The No. 31 point guard in the Class of 2011, Gibbs chose the Terps over a slew of programs, including Florida, Wake Forest, Indiana, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Virginia. His older brother, Ashton, is a rising sophomore at Pitt.

“They were there the whole time,” Gibbs said. “They were involved since my freshman year. I was the most comfortable at Maryland. Also, Gary Williams is a great coach. He is very fiery and I like that about him.”
