C.J. Leslie is down to three schools and will visit UConn this weekend.
“Yep it’s uconn this wk end,” Leslie, the No. 4 power forward in the Class of 2010, tweeted.
The 6-foot-7 Leslie was supposed to visit Florida on Sunday following the Jordan Brand Classic in New York but that trip was cancelled after the Gators landed 6-7 big man Will Yeguete of Florida Air Academy and 6-8 power forward Cody Larson of Roosevelt H.S. (SD).
“No, they are not [in the mix],” said Lisa Leslie, C.J.’s mother. “I think it’s Kentucky, UConn and N.C. State.”
Lisa previously said they were trying to set up a UConn visit.
“Right now we’re just trying to work it out,” she added. “We might try to plan a visit to UConn. We’re trying to see if we could make it happen.”
As for Kentucky, Leslie is close friends with Kentucky commit Brandon Knight and said he is considering following him to the Bluegrass.
But Lisa Leslie said that wouldn’t necessarily be a deciding factor for her son.
“He’s really not saying,” she said. “He likes playing with Brandon. As far as that being a big factor, he hasn’t come out and told us that. He likes playing with Brandon, I’m not sure if he’s leaning in that direction. He just hasn’t said.”
Through it all, N.C. State could have the inside track because of Leslie’s relationship with head coach Sidney Lowe.
“He’s looking at N.C. State because he’s known Sidney Lowe for four or five years,” Lisa said. “He has a good relationship with him. I would say they are pretty high on the list.”
Asked if they were the favorites, she said: “I’m not sure. I just know that he really respects Sidney Lowe.”
