Big Day for the Hurleys: Bob Finally Gets Hall Call, Dan Headed to Wagner

INDIANAPOLIS — Bob and Chris Hurley were on their way to church with their 1-year-old grandson, Gabriel, when the telephone rang last Wednesday morning in their Jersey City home.

Bob told Chris to let it ring, but — noticing that the incoming call was from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. — she answered it.

“In church, I think I was more poorly behaved than the baby because I just had a hard time concentrating for that next half hour,” Hurley, 62, recalled Monday in a ballroom at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.
