Doron Lamb will join Josh Selby in announcing during the Jordan Brand Classic April 17 in New York City.
“Yes. At the Jordan Brand Classic,” Calvin Lamb, Doron’s father, told TheShiver.com. “We were thinking about doing it there anyway, and then they approached us so it worked out.”
Selby, a 6-3 guard out of Baltimore (Md.) Lake Clifton, previously said he would make his announcement then, too.
Selby is mulling Kansas, Kentucky, UConn and Arizona.
The 6-4 Lamb, a Queens native who plays at Oak Hill (Va.) Academy, is considering West Virginia, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky an UConn.
“It doesn’t really matter if it’s close to home. I just want to go somewhere that it fits me and fits my family and it’s the best decision for me. That’s where I’ll go,” Lamb told me last month.
Doron is back in New York for spring break and he and his family have watched some games to look at various teams.
“I watched the Big East games, Mississippi State and Kentucky, and Kansas against Kansas State,” Calvin told The Shiver. “They’re good, and they will be good regardless next year.”
FLORIDA OFFERS GIBBS
Florida became the latest school to offer Seton Hall Prep junior point guard Sterling Gibbs.
“Yes, the offered on Sunday,” Gibbs said by text. “I plan on visiting either April the 16th or 23rd.”
Gibbs was supposed to visit Maryland last month but never made it down because of a snowstorm and hasn’t rescheduled.
Seton Hall Prep fell in the New Jersey North Non-Public A title game to St. Peter’s Prep.
Gibbs is also considering Seton Hall, Providence, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Virginia, Rutgers, Villanova and Wake Forest. His older brother, Ashton, is a sophomore at Pitt.
He has no additional visits planned.
“I may set more as time goes on,” Gibbs said.
ABRAHAM DOWN TO TWO
As of Tuesday evening, 6-9 big man Moses Abraham of Temple Hills (Md.) Progressive Christian is down to Georgetown and Indiana.
He was visiting with the Indiana staff on Tuesday afternoon.

kudos to Mr. Lamb and his camp for keeping a tight lid on his recruitment. i would not be surprised if he decided on arizona, kansas, kentucky, uconn, or wvu

MilesCat / March 17, 2010
Looks like UK and UCONN could be another battle for a recruit.
http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=rivals-364362
/
Cat in the Desert / March 17, 2010
If Distance is not an issue I give Zona the same chance at landing Lamb that I give KU, UK. I just don’t see UCONN landing any of these top talent kids.
/
JonHuskyMS / March 17, 2010
Any legit reason for saying that, or do you just feel the need to take up some blog space from time to time?
/
RockChalkWoody / March 17, 2010
Why can’t you see UCONN landing any of these recruits? It looks like they have plenty of room on their roster and their program is only one year removed from the Final Four. Plus, being on the East Coast has to count for something when it comes to recruiting guys like Lamb.
/
Cat in the Desert / March 17, 2010
Its just a personal opinion, I’m not trying to talk smack but thats what i think. Blogs are just for that. And I might be wrong and they land joseph or someone else, I actually like the doggies, I wish the best to calhoun. Just an opinion you guys can blast me all you want, just like you can blast me for saying Zona will land either Selby or Lamb.
/
RockChalkWoody / March 17, 2010
Dude, I’m not about blasting people for their opinions (I’ll leave that up to some of your UA brethren). For what it’s worth, I still believe Selby to KU and Lamb to UA…but, who knows.
/
UofA BJ / March 17, 2010
I could possibly see Doron Lamb or Cory joseph going to Uconn, but Selby and Knight might as well be removed from consideration.
I think Joseph ends up at Nova and Lamb is their best shot bc proximity to home, and kemba walker being a former Gaucho teamate, and roscoe smith. But at the end of the day I dont think lamb cares about being close to home because he went to oak hill as a junior in high school. And his connection with MoMo Jones and Book and Arizona pitching to him that he will be the PG, his most likely shot at the NBA is at the point.
/
HuskiesNYC / March 17, 2010
Look, most of the top recruits yet to sign are looking at UK, Kansas, Zona and UConn. The Huskies now have top 30’s Lamb, Selby, Joseph, Knight, Cothron, and Leslie on their final list. Do you really think UConn doesn’t get at least one? Seems a little ridiculous to me but feel free to voice your opinion.
/
UofA BJ / March 17, 2010
I think they have a shot at Lamb, Joseph, and Cothron and Im under the impression Leslie is a Kentucky lock.Cali and WWW have made the visit.
/
520Wildcat / March 18, 2010
We’ll definitely see. Kinda weird Lamb and Selby are picking on the same day though. UCONN I think will get Cothron perhaps. To me, I see Joseph going to either Nova, Texas or UCONN
As an Arizona fan (a rational one at that), I just really hope we get either Lamb or Selby, I don’t care which one, just either one!
/
UofA BJ / March 18, 2010
If you watch selby play you wont make a comment like that 520cat
/
JonHuskyMS / March 18, 2010
UConn wont get Knight or Selby, but I still think we have a pretty good shot at Jospeh or Lamb. Not to mention Cothron now.
/
RockChalkWoody / March 18, 2010
Knight to UK
Selby to KU
Lamb to UA
Joseph to UCONN
That’s my best guess, but then again I’m like everybody else here: I don’t know $hit.
/
bosybillups / March 18, 2010
For Selby and Lamb to both go to Arizona, I would bet there would be some (forced) transfers, i.e., Lavender and Fogg.
Miller hinted that this year was about building a foundation (the 5 freshmen) and now he wants his guys on the team that share his philosophy… that buy into his system. I’m not sure if the old Lute holdovers have bought into his tough style of play.
Also, Miller is going after at least 2 bigs in this class… so Selby and Lamb would essentially be a 6 man class.
However, that would also mean Arizona dominates a rebuilding Pac-10 and becomes at least a top 20 team next year :). Damn, that would be a young, athletic, tough, exciting team.
/
RockChalkWoody / March 18, 2010
Sounds like a lot of “what ifs” to me….
/
520Wildcat / March 18, 2010
Yes I know Selby is a unique talent and is overall better than Lamb. Don’t condescend me like that I do know basketball. I also know it will be hard to get Selby, just a harsh reality! Sorry, but I will not de-cred myself, nor the rest of my fan base by saying Selby is an Arizona lock like I’ve read from numerous moronic Cat fans that have posted here before!
Would I like Selby to come to Zona? Of course! Will we get him? I surely hope so, but I won’t lose sleep over it. I’m just saying, although despite heavy criticism from you, I would take either in a sense that EITHER one will contribute to the team in a big way!
/
520Wildcat / March 18, 2010
Fogg is not going anywhere, nor do I want him to!
/
HallBall / March 18, 2010
Husky dont mind him, he Is one of those “Zona” fans that figures Arizona Is the school thats leading on every kids recruiting list. In damn near every one of his posts you see him talking about Arizona Is the favorite to land every recruit they have targeted this year, Let him tell It Arizona’s gonna land Lamb, Selby and Jack or if not they might land Joseph and Knight. Fans are gonna be fans but that guy Is unreal, UConn has a good chance If not more because of Jim Calhouns return to land Lamb just accept the fact that Arizona might not land the guy.
/
HallBall / March 18, 2010
Finally a Arizona fan who I could strongly agree with!
/
HallBall / March 18, 2010
Arizona’s gonna do all of that next year aye, If you say so…
/
Cat in the Desert / March 18, 2010
Funny, hall is unbelieveable. I’ve never stated Zona is in the lead for anybody. I’ve said they have a good chance as anybody to land Lamb, and Selby I see it as a long shot. I mean not that you care, you guys aren’t in contention for any of these. Shouldn’t you be worrying about hiring a coach? I think a local coach down here is looking to downgrade jobs, he might consider seton hall LMAO!!
/
Cat in the Desert / March 18, 2010
Thats definatly alot of what ifs… We don’t have unlimited amount of schollies you know. We already had one transfer whose schollie is already taken by mayes, we have one left and i think we’ll have one more transfer. But to have three transfers in one year is stretching it. I think it will be a four player class, well i’m hoping it is.
/
HallBall / March 19, 2010
Its kinda silly of you to tell me worry about finding a coach, why dont you worry about winning more than 16 games next year. The thing with you Is you just dint get It, even If Seton Hall was recruiting one of these guys I could careless If he commits or not so why do you keep bringing Seton Hall up like I would lose sleep over where another guy Is going to school when Im already a student In college? See your from Arizona so you have to take your college ball seriously, out here In the NJ/NY metropolitan area we have the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Devils, Rangers, Knicks and Nets so college basketball tends to take a backseat to the pro sports but I guess Its vice versa where you are from. So while your worrying about If Arizona will land enough talent to win a national championship, Im wondering where will the Yankees place this years world series banner after they win It again for the 28th time, will the Giants win the super bowl just like In 2007, will the Jets make It back to back afc championship game appearances or will the Devils and Rangers meet In the NHL playoffs. Bottomline, I dont really care about none of these guys not commiting to Seton Hall but Im not going to blog a million reasons why they wont go to UConn or any other school for that matter, the university isnt paying me for that.
/
Cat in the Desert / March 19, 2010
^^ That is the lamest response ever. Zona has the DBacks, Suns, Yotes, and Cards to worry about also and unlike you guys we sell out every single game we have of the year. Don’t give me that Bull, and if you wanna talk pro sports then you have the wrong freakin blog dumb@$$. Not like your the only one anyways, i mean every other school has a similar situation, the California schools, the Texas schools, the Florida schools. I mean i get why you would try to say that, you ain’t even in the top 3 of new york schools and behind like 10 other sports teams in the area so to get a single fan in that place you gotta hope every body else is having a day off or something. LMFAO your trying to say how cool it is to be a seton hall student cause of all the cool pro teams in the area, thats funny.
/
pastaboy / March 19, 2010
Its all about Cal ….when he decides you’ll know where to go pick up your table scraps …….anyone seen Big Ben lately? ( snickers)
/
Michael / March 19, 2010
Hallball, what a pathetic pathetic response.
Guess what? This is a college basketball blog. This article is about college basketball. I guess you waived the white flag in that argument when you brought up New York City and all of the pro teams, when we are talking college basketball here.
It’s great that as a Seton Hall fan, you can gravy train off of the New York Yankees (lol) and the OTHER Big East teams (by the way, great showing yesterday by the Big East). It’s funny- you never talk about your own team. I wonder why. I thought it was bad enough that you ride the coattails (sic) of other Big East programs (you know, the succesful ones.) But to see you bring up the Yankees is really a joke of a response.
Hey, any time you want to talk college hoops and the Arizona and Seton Halls programs, just let us Arizona fans know- we will be waiting.
/
Cat in the Desert / March 19, 2010
Your right, how much will he offer Knight this time? I mean Self, and Miller can only cough up so much dough, but with Cali’s unlimited payroll he can have anyone he wants huh.
/
HallBall / March 19, 2010
Its bad enough I had one jacka** from Arizona blogging but now this Micheal guy makes It two. First of all I am from New Jersey and I do ATTEND Seton Hall so no matter what I WILL SUPPORT MY SCHOOL in every sport. Im not just some random loser who never stepped foot on campus like some of you otther weirdos I know and swear up and down that you know everything about a school you never even been to. Also the last time I checked Adam Zagoria works for SNY and not only covers college basketball In the Metropolitan area but ALL THE PRO teams as well, so If Im at the wrong blog your not the biggest a**hole on this blog. Speaking of pro teams the teams that actually matter, you mentioned the Suns, Diamondbacks, “Yotes” lol, and the Cardinals like they really arent the most underacheiving teams on the westcoast besides the Clippers and the Golden State Warriors. Now to the comment of me never talking about Seton Hall, and say what that we had more wins than Arizona this year or that Im glad Gonzo Is GONE? I dont need to ride any other programs coat tails because I never proclaimed Seton Hall to be a basketball powerhouse, If anything Im a fan of college basketball period more so a fan of the Big East but mainly the teams In the area such as Seton Hall, St. Johns, Rutgers, Syracuse and Villanova. I do support the Big East as a whole from the top to bottom not just the good programs but all of them because alot of the kids playing at these schools grew up In the Metropolitan Area and I have seen them play whether It be at a summer leauge game or the Primetime Shootout In my hometown of Trenton. Lastly, ONCE AGAIN I could careless about the state of Seton Hall right now because Im going to be a pirate for life , so If you Arizona jackoffs want to talk about college basketball as If It were a pro team please take It to Dicky V because I dont give damn. Big East Ball…Eastcoast ball really…
/
Michael / March 19, 2010
What kind of fan could care less about the state of his team? No wonder your team is garbage with fans like you. We all support our teams no matter what (well most of us), but that doesn’t mean we don’t care about how they are performing. Perhaps that makes you feel better since your team sucks.
“Im not just some random loser who never stepped foot on campus like some of you otther weirdos I know and swear up and down that you know everything about a school you never even been to.”
Tell me, have you been to the Arizona campus? How much time have you spent on the west coast?
Hey, most AZ fans myself included support the Pac 10. We just don’t sit here and brag about the others and what kind of recruits UCLA is getting. We prefer to discuss our own team, unlike you.
Regarding this blog, it is a “hoops” blog (read the top of the webpage) but really, anyone with half a brain knows this is a college hoops blog. Nonetheless, still not sure what the Yankees have to do with the Big East, Seton Hall, college hoops or Arizona. New York Giants and Jets for that matter.
Good luck next year to UConn, which appears to be your favorite team as a Seton Hall fan.
P.S. Your name is Hallball. If you don’t want to talk about Seton Hall’s hoops “program” perhaps you should change your name.
/
HallBall / March 20, 2010
Lol now I know this guy Is retarted, so now Im a UConn fan because I asked why UConn wouldnt be able to land Lamb but Arizona could, the more you talk the more dumb sh** I smell spewing from your mouth. First off why would I be just a fan of UConn when I attend Seton Hall and If anything I would become a fan of Syracuse due to the proximity of NJ to NY you genius. Last time I checked, the Is a blog so I could give a damn whether you agree with what I post or not. Anybody with half a brain knows this Is a college basketball blog, yea considering you only had half of a brain to begin with, guess thats why Zags has not only posts but links on his page to every pro and college team In the Metropolitan area. As far as me ever visiting Arizona never been and never want to but I wont bother asking you If you have ever been to the eastcoast, Seton Hall or even the Arizona campus again! The difference between me and you Is I give respect when Its due, you say you would never brag about UCLA getting recruits me neither but I’m not the type to sit there and say I hate a school just for the simple fact their program attracts recruits that my school cant. About the state of Seton Halls program, I said I could careless because the Hall knew what they were getting when they hired Bobby Gonzo and now they will have to restore the respect that fans and alums In the area had for the program and nothing I say on this blog will make or break the AD’s decision on the programs situation right now so like you I’ll just read about It when some news breaks. I am a Seton Hall fan but I dont come on here and waste time talking useless nonsense like you do but while we are talking about the Hall lets compare seasons, Arizona finished 16-15 and under 500. In the Pac-10 Seton Hall finished 19-12 and 9-9 In the Big East. I guess It would be kind of unfair to compare Seton Hall with Arizona, I mean with Arizona’s team being so young due to the fact they send so many kids to the NBA every year and Seton Hall has only two returning seniors and juniors for next years team. Lol..Now the Yankee talk, the Yankees has nothing to do with the Big East but my point was with the media market the NY/NJ area has If your not making the NCAA’s or winning national titles college basketball takes the backseat to the pro teams which In all rights should make since right now. No matter how you feel, Im a fan of Seton Hall as well as a student but Im a fan of the Big East as whole because every program brings something different to the leauge.

I want to know what happened to all those shit talking KU fans who were telling me about their National Championship this year? I guess those hicks know nothing about basketball and Self is an over-rated head coach who just could not get it done. What happened? Feel free to jump in and tell me what a great dump Kansas really is! I am laughing at all you hicks.

Suns: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=hollinger_john&page=FranchiseRankings-Suns
Diamondbacks: Won a world series within its first ten years of existence… against the New York Yankees. The current squad reached the NLCS two seasons ago, and can be a threat to get there again if Brandon Webb gets healthy.
Cardinals: Terrible for a long time, but as you’re citing recent success, they did reach the Super Bowl two seasons ago.
Coyotes: I don’t really care. We live in the desert.
Arizona professional teams have done relatively well considering the market they play in. That’s not to say that Phoenix is not a big market, but it’s not even close to the size of New York. But that doesn’t mean Arizona teams are underachievers. If any baseball team were stacked up against the Yankees’ history, it would be an underachiever. Lots of money helps. Unless you’re the Knicks, I guess.
/
Cat in the Desert / March 21, 2010
^^ Don’t shrugg off the Yotes too quickly, they are within a point of first place in the Western Conference and are playing good hockey, and a real threat at the Stanley Cup.

davidpk19 / March 28, 2010
Calling out the second group of shit-talking fans: Where are you Kentucky fans with all your Calipari delivering National Championship? He could not even deliver another Final Four that would have been stripped! The dude is a crook and get a hang of that fact and take it to the bank.
