Has Hill Done Enough at Rutgers?; Gonzo Won’t Get Warm Reception at St. John’s

Tim Pernetti, the first-year Rutgers athletic director, said last August that this would be a critical year for basketball coach Fred Hill.

“I think it’s a very important year on a lot of fronts,” Pernetti said then.

“My expectations for men’s basketball are the same as Freddie Hill’s expectations for basketball,” Pernetti added. “That we’re going to illustrate some serious improvement in the coming year.”

If improving to six Big East victories this year from two a year ago constitutes “serious improvement,” Hill seems well on his way.
