Brandon Knight’s father says “nobody is leading” for the services of his son, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2010.
“Nobody’s leading. Brandon can flourish at any one of the schools that he’s going to,” Efrem Knight said by phone. “It still where it’s been. He’s considering all the same schools.”
The elder Knight said his son is still considering Kansas, Kentucky, Miami, Florida, UConn and Syracuse.
The 6-foot-3 Knight will play against Florida commit Austin Rivers Friday night when Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest faces Winter Park on ESPN2 (7 p.m.).
Several sources had previously told me that Knight will likely land at either Kentucky or one of the Florida schools. Kentucky coach John Calipari flew last night to watch Knight perform at the Flyin’ to the Hoop event in Dayton.
If Knight ended up at Kentucky, he would follow John Wall, the likely No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, as the latest elite guard to play for Calipari. The coach previously sent Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans to the lottery during his time at Memphis.
One source close to Knight also said there was “pressure” on Knight to stay home and play for Miami or Florida, but his father denied there was any such pressure.
“No pressure at all. That’s just stuff you’re hearing in the streets,” he said.
Both Efrem and Pine Crest coach Dave Beckerman have said Knight will make an informed decision after the season ends.
“He wants to defend our district championship, then the regional championship, then the state championship. That will take us to about March 8. Then it will all be over,” Beckerman said in a recent interview.
Beckerman said Knight will also want to see “who’s going to declare for the NBA, who’s leaving, who’s coming in, who’s bringing in what players.”
“He’s very methodical,” Beckerman added. “He’s not going to be rushed.”
Still, Efrem said his son wouldn’t necessarily need to watch the teams he’s considering play in the NCAA tournament to make a decision.
“I think we’ve seen the teams play enough times this year,” he said.

Reggie Rankin, (not Ranking), has a lot of credibility. He’s been an assistant coach on seven teams in 13 years so obviously he has trouble maintaining a job (something I’m sure you’re familiar with Jessie).

As much as I think JessieWildcat is crazy which he is, RockChalkWoody, you are taking it to another level. I don’t know where either one of you get your info but I don’t think any of it is credible. What does it mean that the Midwest can now confirm Arizona is out of Selby Sweepstakes. If either one of you could give me links to actual sources, it would help me believe either you. And BTW, I live in Missouri (the Midwest) and I am hearing that Arizona is just as in it for Selby as KU or anyone.

I guess I didn’t make it clear with using beardown in my username, I am also an Arizona fan.
I also am not delusional like JessieWildcat and I know Arizona is no where near KU in basketball the last 3-4 years. I went to see KU play Memphis and I thought and still think they are the best team in the country.
I do see Arizona eventually going back to that level where KU is right now. There is not one PAC 10 team that is in better shape for the long run than we are. Sean Miller is already doing great in recruiting and whether or not we get Lamb or Selby, it is pretty remarkable to think a 12-11 team is even in the final group of schools these recruits are considering.

Miller is a good coach, FYI in the last 25 years, KU has 7 Final Fours and two NCAA Championships so it’s not just a 3-4 year thing. And you’ve had a lot more “NBA” talent as most of your Point Guard U fans have pointed out.

McKale is near capacity every night. 92.7% attendance is not bad for a team that is rebuilding and is one game over .500. McKale holds around 14,500 and is avg. 13,600 or so. KU only has one more championship and 3 more final fours in a 25 year span. Not really light years head of UA.
