GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Neither Nate Robinson nor his boss were talking trade rumors on Wednesday.

“We just want to talk about Friday [when the Knicks host Kobe Bryant and the Lakers], so if you want to talk about Friday we can do that but anything else I have nothing to say,” Robinson said after practice.

Said Knicks president Donnie Walsh: “I’m not commenting on trade rumors and that’s what they are.”

The Celtics made an offer for Robinson, according to  Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, who reported the proposed deal on The Sports Hub. Celtics Hub wrote about it Tuesday.

Citing a person “with close ties” to Celtics coach Doc Rivers, the Daily News reported that the Celtics are interested.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun took a leave of absence Tuesday to deal with undisclosed medical issues.

The school did not give additional details on the 67-year-old Hall of Fame coach’s condition. He had his prostate cancer in 2003 and skin cancer twice, most recently in 2008.

Dr. Peter Schulman, Calhoun’s primary-care physician, said in a statement he advised Calhoun to take time off “to address some temporary medical issues, none of which involve any previous medical conditions that he has dealt with.”

In the wake of this weekend’s holiday events, here are a few recruiting tidbits on three of the top unsigned guards in the Class of 2010:

**Cory Joseph — Despite published reports that the Findlay Prep guard is down to UConn and Villanova, Joseph insists he’s still also considering Minnesota, Texas and UNLV.

“No, I still have all five schools,” Joseph wrote in a text.

Asked if he had a timetable on deciding, he said: “No timetable, just whenever I feel 100 percent about it.”

There can’t be many high school teams in the nation with a better 1-2 punch than Burlington (N.J.) Life Center Academy.

With the transfer of 6-foot-8 junior wing LaQuinton Ross of Mississippi to Life Center, coach Wilson Arroyo now can pair Ross with 6-3 Syracuse-bound guard Dion Waiters.

Playing in just their second game together, Ross and Waiters combined for 46 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and  2 blocks when Life Center routed Hotchkiss, 72-54, Monday at the Big Apple Invitational at Baruch College.

“I was really happy with our play,” said Arroyo, whose team is an independent Christian school.

After he put up 25 points and 13 rebounds, Ross was described by one knowledgeable person as the best player at the tournament. Strong praise considering Tobias Harris (Tennessee), JayVaughn Pinkston (Villanova) and Eric Ferguson (Georgia Southern) were also at the event.
