Former Marquette forward Jeronne Maymon will enroll Friday at Tennessee and will pay his own way for a semester, according to a source close to the Tennessee program.
A former two-time Wisconsin state player of the year, Maymon left Marquette last month after averaging 4.0 points and 4.2 rebounds. He last played Dec. 12 in a 72-63 loss to Wisconsin.
The 6-foot-6 Maymon will have to sit out a year per NCAA transfer regulations and won’t be eligible until December 2010.
Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl formerly coached at UW-Milwaukee.
Tim Maymon, Jeronne’s father, told Madison.com that his son wasn’t happy with how he was being used at Marquette.
“They didn’t want to play the game right, so now we’re going to watch them lose every game. That’s just how it works,” he said.
“You don’t bring a kid in and not use him the way he’s supposed to be used. So this kid has left the state of Wisconsin as one of the premier players in the state. ”

Not shocked that this kid quit on Marquette and transferred less than a month into the season after reading the father’s comments! I wonder where this kid gets his sense of entitlement from? Oh that would be from dad.
Speaking of dad, so much for being an adult and not burning bridges: “They didn’t want to play the game right, so now we’re going to watch them lose every game. That’s just how it works,” he said. Stay classy, Mr. Maymon.

This is something Buzz (“Curly”) should’ve foreseen when he signed Maymon. He is a better fit with the gang of misfits that Pearl has collected. Pearl had become the Al Davis of NCAA basketball. Why Tobias Harris wants to go to TN is curious? Do they have bigger Brinx trucks in TN?
