Oak Hill Academy guard Doron Lamb enjoyed his weekend visit to Arizona but says he likely won’t decide on a school until April.
“It was nice when I went out there,” the 6-foot-4 Lamb said Monday by phone. “It was hot. The team was good. I like the campus and everything and all that. I’m thinking about going there.”
Lamb saw the Wildcats fall to Washington State, 78-76, Friday night.
“They lost to Washington State on a buzzer-beater,” he said.
Lamb said Arizona coach Sean Miller told him he could come in and play 30-35 minutes a game in the backcourt and that Arizona had produced a large number of NBA players.
“He said I’d be playing the point,” Lamb said. “I could play 30-35 minutes and the ball would be in my hands.”
Arizona point guard Nic Wise is set to graduate this year, while Lamont “Momo” Jones, Lamb’s former Oak Hill teammate, is currently a freshman off guard.
Lamb also has a relationship with Arizona assistant Book Richardson but said that wouldn’t be a deciding factor for him.
“I’ve known him for a long time. He coached me in AAU,” Lamb said. “But that don’t mean anything [about a decision].”
Lamb is also considering Kentucky, Kansas, UConn and Oklahoma.
He said he was looking for “a good coaching staff, a winning program and somewhere that I feel like home and I feel comfortable.”
Asked when he might decide, Lamb said, “Probably April.”
Josh Selby, a combo guard out of Lake Baltimore (Md.) Clifton, came in on his Arizona visit after Lamb departed.
“He came in after I left. We’re cool,” he said.
Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star reported that Selby was on court at the McHale Center shooting threes an hour after Sunday’s win over Washington.
“I know the student section wasn’t here but it still seemed like a real good crowd,” Maeshon Witherspoon, Selby’s mom, told Pascoe: “We know they’re [the Wildcats] kind of young.”
Asked if the two could play together, Lamb said, “I have no idea.”

Great! Thanks for the update.

Isn’t Nic Wise the point guard?
/
AZhoops / January 11, 2010
He’s graduating this year, hence the visits by Doron Lamb and Josh Selby.

Good stuff AZ.
Good to hear that D-Lamb has Arizona on his mind.
I alway enjoyed reading Calvin’s comment.
Seems D-Lamb and JS are following the same timeline?
Folks were expecting an earlier decision from D-Lamb.
Look forward to Josh and Mrs W. inputs on the Arizona viist.

Hey Adam. Quick Question since I see Lamb’s name. Maryland is supposed to get two monster commits in the coming days and still a good shot at Echenique. Any idea who those two commits could be? I heard one for 2010 and one for 2011. Ross could be re-committing but I think it could be bigger than that. Could Pe’Shon Howard have the juice with Doron to get him to come along for the ride? Thanks for your insight. You do a great job.

JessieWildcat / January 12, 2010
AZ,
Hearing that Calvin sees D-Lamb as a GREAT FIT at Arizona.
And I can see Mrs W having a TOP2.
Where Arizona is involved?
Look forward to forthcoming commit news.
PS-
I noticed that ESPx is running with it.
U$C sanctions, part II (post-petie era is not starting off good.)

UAWildcat / January 12, 2010
I did not see Lamb at the Washington State game but I did see Selby on Sunday vs Washington. So did MoMo Jones after a made layup and foul MoMo pointed at Selby and then pointed to Lute and Bobbi Olson Court saying play here next here.
/
RockChalkWoody / January 12, 2010
It didn’t really sound like Selby was blown away on his visit: “I think the Arizona basketball team played better in person versus T.V.,” said Witherspoon. I wonder what she thought about the empty seats, Jessie?
/
ZonaWildcat / January 12, 2010
Hey RockChalkWoody,
Here is a more in depth interview with Josh Selby you might find interesting…
Its’ the second response on the thread with the Selby interview.
/
Big Ben / January 12, 2010
That would be a huge get for Miller, but I would have thought he’d need to be ‘blown away’ by Arizona in order to catch them up to Kansas and Kentucky, especially since he’ll visit those schools for packed houses.

There is trouble brewing at Gangsta U. There is disharmony and more trouble water ahead. It is quite obvious that these hillibillies at Kansas can not right the ship. Read the article and know prospective recruits:

I was just going to post this link …..as predicted by Pasta last summer .. Bill (the stiff) Self has no clue how to handle talent …. Go to a freshman’s house and kiss his Dad’s butt to pleeeeese have your son enroll and the end result will be dissension . These overrated losers will now spend the rest of the season looking at Cal’s ass from behind …..God help KU if they end up on a court with KY. …..blowout of biblical proportions . In the mean time enjoy your fluke NC over Cal ….it’ll never happen again .
/
davidpk19 / January 13, 2010
KU sucks big time. Self is not much of a coach or leader of any team, but has sold a false bill of goods to a bunch of hicks in Kansas. As for that recruit that you referred to whom we both know who he is, well, he was bought as no ass kissing by Self would have brought him to the Pit of this country, Lawrence, Kansas without just compensation. Follow the trail of money my friend, pastaboy.
/
JessieWildcat / January 13, 2010
Message to Lew.
You handle the whole Kansass “Gangster U” rather poorly.
But, it is not entirely your fault. This behavior has been happening for YEARs.
I like it… follow the trail of money.
AZ–
With Doron Lamb:
It appears , the later than sooner approach will limit his options.
Folks aren’t going to wait.
If Calvin sees a good fit (plus, playing Point Guard), then , best to jump on it?
Smith may have some choice words?
With Josh S.:
There are two insightful reporters on this subject.
And one of them is AZ.
This one does not have an ending until April.
The visit to Arizona was excellent for Josh and Mrs W.
Still seeing Arizona in the TOP2.?
PS–
There is more from Kansas…

srsilverman / January 13, 2010
wow david, that’s a very impressive article…way to go bud
You are talking about a coach that won a national title 2 years ago, I’m not really sure why I’m even having to defend the guy. Pasta, you are a classic Kentucky fan who as soon as you see some success you start thinking you are untouchable. Please, continue on with that attitude and see where that gets you. And david, why do you say “without compensation”, your article that you put up there mentions nothing of that. Those are both pretty classy comments and classy ideas, its funny the Kentucky people are going to attack the KU coach because of their own insecurities. It’s like you know Calipari is doing something wrong, and I can put that comment up there because of his history, repeated history, of cheating and not following the rules. So, go ahead, be insecure, attack Coach Self, if that’s gonna make you feel better about your own situation. But you are attacking a classy guy and a proven winner.
That is exactly what you guys are doing, you are so insecure about your own situations that you just post that crap to try and create turnoil elsewhere. You’re not even responding to anyone’s comment, but it’s obvious the two of you jump at every chance you get to trash talk KU, by the way I’m pretty sure most people on this site realize this and consider you a joke. Why all the KU hostility? I know I don’t run around like a jackhole stating comments like “God help KU if they ever got on the court against KY”, first off, please, we are not scared of you, trust me. I welcome the day we get to put another one of Coach Cal’s teams (cheats) in their place. And I’m a big believer in karma, so I’m really hoping we do get the chance to play and show you personally that smack talk in January means absolutely nothing. Let me give you another tip, act like you’ve been there before. I didn’t think I would have to tell a Kentucky fan this, but act like you are supposed to be there, instead of acting like you’ve never been there before. I does a lot for your character and class, or for you, it maybe make it seem like you actually do have a little class.
God help KU if they end up on the court with Kentucky? Please, we have leaders on our team that have won a national championship, I know you can’t say that. I’d take KU any day of the week against a bunch of 18 year old kids.
/
jhawk4 / January 13, 2010
wow, KU loses one game and now they “suck big time” and are “ovverated losers” would get a “blow out of biblical proportions” if they played UK, and now Self is apparently a big cheater.
Keep telling yourself that, gentleman. Self will get all of his “hillbillies” from kansas playing well and peaking at the right time.
See ya in march
/
pastaboy / January 13, 2010
Cal’s history ? How about 154 and 14 in the past 4.5 years ……how’s that for history ? The best coach in college ball today will not let an inferior coach and an overrated bunch of cry babies fluke him out of a NC this year ….not gonna happen . As for leaders you have an overweight guard who can’t throw the ball in the ocean from 12 feet …let alone beat a dream team like KY . I doubt seriously you will have the opportunity to plat a final 4 team this year ….so be grateful for the fact you won’t be embarrassed .
/
Big Ben / January 13, 2010
Really? Bragging up a closing minutes win over the 6th best team in the SEC? I know you’ve been irrelevant for a while, but sneaking by a terrible Florida team isn’t something to beat your chest over.
/
Big Ben / January 13, 2010
A Kentucky fan calling a Kansas fan a hick. Now I’ve seen it all.
/
Big Ben / January 13, 2010
What was his record against legitimate D1 teams? I know it’s under .500 against the RPI top 50 (still).

pastaboy / January 13, 2010
Poor Big Ben ….still in denial …last year it was CUSA …this year what is it Ben ? N.Carolina …UCOnn …. Florida ….LOl …….Cal beats all comers ……17 and 0 ….Hahahahahahahaha. nothing you can do about the freight train Ben ….its coming right at you ( snickers)
/
Big Ben / January 13, 2010
211th non-conference strength of schedule and Kentucky fan is bragging. If we didn’t have Kentucky fans we’d have to make them up.
/
jhawk4 / January 13, 2010
That might be the most ridiculous thing ive ever seen. yeah sherron collins, you know, the guy who cant throw it in the ocean from 12 feet has over 1500 points in his career. and a national title ring. man he must really suck, especially since he has a chance to be the winningest player in NCAA history this season.
you better get a hold of yourself. a dream team? are you kidding me. you need a reality check man.
by the way, that inferior coach has 1 more ring than Cal.

JessieWildcat / January 13, 2010
Just telling it like I hear it…
Kansass “Gangster U” has two new policies.
SELF believes in
a) “Shut your mouth” Policy
b) “You better Listen” Policy.
This is what I am referring to…
**Shut your mouth Policy:
“I think Tyshawn talks TOO much,” Self said,
“ I’ve never heard that before, and I’ll visit with him about it after practice.” Really?
Also hear that SELF gave a NASTY chewing out!
**”You better Listen Policy”:
If he’s unsure of his role, then he doesn’t LISTEN very good. It bothers me …”
Should parents be concerned? (focus on the recruits from this AZ article.)
>>What would Calvin do?
Dude, Doron is not going there so, I it is not our concern.
>>What would Mrs W. say?
Josh calls it like he sees it. One must be REAL ,no sugar coating.
We look forward to talking to Self and Lew about the violance, fighting, drinking and Self’s new policies.
Package?

pastaboy / January 13, 2010
Oh cmon Ben ….post a link for that lie …. Uconn…N.carolina …Indiana …..Louisville? ….9th in RPI ? …if you can’t accept the truth ….at least retire from this blog …LOL …there aren’t even 211 teams ….. stop making suff up …..you are making a fool of yourself (again) ….17 and 0 (snickers)
/
pastaboy / January 13, 2010
Too bad his fluke ring won’t fit on his little fat brick laying fingers ….hahahahaa …this bum doesn’t get drafted and will be driving a cab in Kansas City in 3 years …… Love to see him get schooled by John Wall ….. little fat boy with no skill …..
/
pastaboy / January 13, 2010
Wow ….Kansas trailing Nebraska at the half ….. seriously …no trash talking here …..this KU team has problems ….they haven’t really looked dominant all year ….they are no where close to clicking ….. reports of dissension . If you Jayhawk boys love your team like I think you do you better admit that’s there’s a problem here …this team is walking talking numero 22 team … a 3 seed on rep … maybe …good luck ..but right now don’t even think about challenging Ky…..ya got no chance .
/
jhawk4 / January 14, 2010
we played much better in the second half. that and the fact nebraska finally cooled off (they shot just a shade under 80% from 3 in the first half!). I was encouraged by our second half play, and that is with Henry having an off night and cole missing layups. once we get those 2 going we will look even better.
i dont think there is a chemistry problem, i think the media is overblowing what taylor said. having said that we still have alot of improving to do on both ends of the floor before we really start clicking, but the pieces are definitely there.
/
jhawk4 / January 14, 2010
Speaking of clicking, i thought UK really clicked against florida last night. they responded well with there backs up against the wall (no pun intended) and i was very impressed with their play. big win for UK.
/
srsilverman / January 14, 2010
Kentucky was tied with Florida last night with 5 minutes left to play in the game, your arguments don’t make any sense. Reports of dissension? Taylor should not be speaking to the media anyway. And I would hope that Self gave him a stern talking to, that’s his freakin job.
Note: starting a post with, “Just telling it like I hear it…”, is not gonna make anyone believe that you have the inside scoop or that anyone would actually want to talk to you about this stuff
/
UAWildcat / January 14, 2010
All this talk about KU and UK any of you seen Texas. Texas may be the best team in the Big 12 and nation. Texas and Kentucky in the final probably would be the best matchup.

JessieWildcat / January 14, 2010
AZ,
Calvin indicates that a commit can come at anytime- tomorrow or in a month.
Some say tomorrow has arrived.
From the West, it appears that Doron has TWO key options.
The West is one of those top TWO options.
Look forward to your breaking news on D-Lamb.
Tick Tock
Note:
Chalk…Woody
The previous comments pertain to what the West folks are hearing and discussing.
It is just that -about Kansass “Gangster U”.
This title was going to be given to Brucie Pearl ;but, the AD did MAN UP!
Did not do a LEW or Goofy (UK AD).
See there are new Zona-newbies.
Wet behind the ears and growing….mama, mama
It’s all good.

davidpk19 / January 14, 2010
We are talking about Hillbillies from Kansass man!
/
srsilverman / January 14, 2010
Jessie,
I live in Phoenix, and have not heard any of this non-sense, I wouldn’t include the whole western part of the united states as part of your rambling crap.
davidpk,
I stooped to your level, and checked a few stats. It turns out that Kentucky is actually more small-town, hillbillies than Kansas. The largest city, Louisville, is just over 250,000 people. This is about an 1/8th of the size of Kansas City, where I am from. You guys are just a bunch of small-town hicks. What do you guys even have in Kentucky? Maybe if you just checked the internet you could get this info, too. Or do you guys even have the internet in Kentucky? With a state full of small town hillbillies, you may not even know about internet. Your points are weak you hillbilly.
/
GasCan / January 14, 2010
Questioning weather or not we’ve heard of the internet? Really? Not to be like our former coach, but that’s a STUPID question! If we don’t have or have never heard of the internet in KY, how are we posting on this website?
/
pastaboy / January 14, 2010
I thought when Zav e a (Xavier) (((eyeroll))) …went out with 3 fouls and Kansas built a 53 to 46 lead was telling …. Collins , the Morris bros. , have been to war together and I still think they resent him .
/
jhawk4 / January 14, 2010
X’s problem right now is that he isnt agressive enough on either end of the floor. He often times gets caught hanging around the perimeter waiting for a 3. Someone of his talent should be more aggressive and looking to score more (like he was earlier in the year) he is in a little bit of a funk right now and doesn’t look comfortable, but he will snap out of it. (hopefully soon)
i never get the sense that anyone resents him, but your right, he hasnt been “to war” so to speak with this team yet.
/
JessieWildcat / January 15, 2010
AZ,
YOU were right and said it weeks ago.
Real Nice.
Knight to Kentucky.
Looks like the commit was given weeks ago?
And others are following your lead…
G.Parrish—
“But with Tyler Smith’s gun to my head, I’d say the most likely scenario is Knight to Kentucky…”
Where does JOSH SELBY go????
So, Arizona is in the TOP2 for Josh Selby.
Will JoshS/NYC/Mrs W. tolerate the “SHUT YOUR MOUTH policy” Self has imposed on NYC players???
Is it TRUE that Josh Selby will take an unofficial visit to Arizona ?
/
otwixto / January 15, 2010
Jessie,
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! Why would Josh Selby take an unofficial to Arizona??? HE JUST TOOK HIS OFFICIAL!!!!!
Seriously man/women. Get your head out of your ass.
But to answer you questions, NO he will not be taking an unofficial becuase….. HE ALREADY TOOK HIS OFFICIAL!!!!!
Peace and Bear Down.
