C.J. Leslie Feeling Kentucky

Here’s a video interview from ABC-WTVQ with Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God forward C.J. Leslie, who will be participating this weekend in the Dunkin Donuts Shootout National Classic at Lexington (Ky.) Catholic.

The 6-foot-9 Leslie is a friend and former teammate of current Kentucky freshman sensation John Wall and sure sounds like he might follow Wall to Bluegrass country.

“I think it’s a high interest on both parts,” Leslie said. “I’m definitely feeling Kentucky, and Kentucky is felling me. They’ve got some of the best fans around.”

Word of God coach Erasto Hatchett says he and Leslie are both in regular touch with Wall.

“He and C.J. are real good friends.  John and I communicate once every two weeks or so, I try to get him to talk with C.J. and some of the guys just kind of getting them prepared for what’s at the next level,” Hatchett said.

Leslie is also considering N.C. State, Oregon, UConn and Florida, but he is showing Kentucky some love during his trip.

“Looks like a great place to be,” he said.

  • Come on. Calipari is a winner, and a proven cheater. Calhoun is better, at least he skirts the rules and doesn’t break them. World Wide Wes, and those like him, are the bane of NCAA basketball. How long can college basketball go on letting this happen without letting it’s reputation go down the tubes.

Kudos to coaches like Self, Gary Williams and Coach K, and others like them, for standing up against such nonesense.

Those recruits who follow coaches like Calipari will risk their entire college experience, Final Four or not.

Hey, the choice is theirs. I’m not jealous…….just stating the history that follows this guy. Which is not good. The wake of this coach should have him banned from the NCAA. But he’d probably still make a good NBA coach, so long as his players are not allowed to have guns in their lockers.

    Am I wrong here?

  • I have to disagree with you. No one has proven (your wording) that Cal is a cheater. Don’t you think the NCAA would gladly nail him if they had at least a shred of evidence in the Rose or Camby cases against him? As far as the Camby case is concerned, Cal was the person that turned him in. If he hadn’t have, no one would have known. Does that sound like something a cheater would do to you? I know, next your going to say that he should have know because he was the head coach, and as such, he should be aware of EVERYTHING that goes on in his program. When that’s fine if you hold others to that same standard. You would have to hold Coach K responsible for his player taking money from an agent while on campus. You would have to hold Self responsible for his player getting a DUI, and other players brawling in the middle of campus. You would even have to hold Pearl responsible for what his players did. Why do you chose to draw the line at Cal, and Cal alone? And while im at it, what exactly does “But he’d probably still make a good NBA coach, so long as his players are not allowed to have guns in their lockers.” even suppose to mean anyway?

  • Well Cousins inadvertently acknowledged in an interview back in march that Cal called him about comin to UK while he was deciding on accepting the job their, this was during the time were contact by Cal to the pldyers was prohibited. Cousins attempted to fix it up by satin Cal spoke with his mom once he realized what he’d said. NCAA did nothin there. Sampson does it and the hammer of death comes out, just sayin…

  • Any college coach who wins 152 out of 166 games in 4.5 years will hear the resounding whining from the have nots about cheating. Even Bobby Knight has his panties in a wad .

  • I hear that providing links and giving some “proof” of anything is in style these days. Too bad you’re in the fashion dog-house right now.

  • Especially if he has two vacated Final Fours…

  • Wasn’t Kansas on probation when they beat Memphis in the title game last year?
