Pinkston to Hold Off on Decision

After initially planning on announcing his college decision Wednesday afternoon in a press conference at Bishop Loughlin, JayVaughn Pinkston will now hold off until the late signing period.

“He’s not going to commit today,” New Heights athletic director Kimani Young said.

“JayVaughn and his family have decided that he will not make his college choice decision today. He’s not 100 percent sure where he wants to go to school so rather than make a rush decision he’ll just wait unitl the spring.”

The Daily News reported on its website Tuesdsay that Pinkston, a 6-foot-6 forward from Bishop Loughlin considered the top high school player in New York City, would announce for Tennessee Wednesday.

But Pinkston is not certain where he wants to play and will now wait until the spring. He is also considering Villanova, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Marquette.

“He’s going to go to  the best situation for him,” Young said.

Whether this decision impacts Tobias Harris at all remains to be seen.

The 6-8 Harris is slated to announce Thursday and Tennessee is considered one of the favorites to land him, along with Syracuse, West Virginia and Louisville.

Harris’ father, Torrel, said Monday that if Pinkston chose Tennessee it wouldn’t necessarily inhibit Tobias from going there as well.

Now that Pinkston isn’t announcing for Tennessee, it could open the door even wider for Harris to Tennessee. But we won’t know for sure until he makes his announcement.

  • Which of the four schools besides Tennessee does this help the most, if any?

  • If Brucie can pull off the DOUBLE COMMIT, this would be unheard of…

Only because Jay P. was considering Villa.
And Harris was considering SU and UK.

    How did Brucie do it?

(Brucie was able to get another visit from Harris – came to see the latest Tenn game.
That was a pretty good move. Was it ENOUGH?)

  • How dumb is the decision to go to Tennessee?

Always gonna be Kentucky’s shadow, lets face that is just the way it is ,The Cat’s are back. Why would want to go to a school that only had 1 sweet 16 in it’s history?? How many NBA players has Pearl produced?? All the things the Harris’s stated they wanted ,Tennessee does not even come close ,Compared to the other schools tradition rich schools with final fours and national championships , deeds not HYPE,unless somebody bought into the hype”passion”,but the talk ,does not add up to becoming a Lottery pick .Those are facts about the Tennessee program How dumb is the decision to go to Tennesee? What could else they be offering ?

If you go the SEC you go to Kentucky.

If you go to the Beast you go to Louisville or THE Cuse

If you go to the ACC you pick Maryland .

Tennesee has only been on the rise since the SEC has declined ,now that is OVER ,,,

    I am confused lol

  • you sure are confused if you think the only schools worth going to in the Big East are Louisville and Syracuse – that’s just ignorant
