Brandon Knight, the top prospect in the Class of 2010, may well wait until the late signing period next spring.
“Looks that way,” Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest coach Dave Beckerman wrote in a text.
The early signing period runs Nov. 11-18.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Knight took an official to Kansas last weekend and Beckerman confirmed that Knight will visit Florida Nov. 13-15.
“It is my understanding that he will visit Florida,” he said.
Knight has previously visited Kentucky and UConn and has also considered Miami and Syracuse.
UCONN AWAITING WORD ON PLAYERS
UConn sophomore point guard Kemba Walker of the Bronx scored 28 points and senior forward Stanley Robinson added 25 points as undermanned UConn defeated American International College, 106-67, Wednesday.
Freshman big man Alex Oriakhi added 16 points and 16 boards.
The No. 12 Huskies played without senior Jerome Dyson, junior Donnell Beverly and freshman Jamal Coombs-McDaniel due to pending evaluation of recently submitted paperwork pertaining to their eligibility certification.

6-8 forward Gil Biruta of Lithuania and St. Benedict’s Prep visits Rutgers Saturday after taking the SAT. Speaking of Rutgers, see the men’s basketball preview in the Video Player in the right corner of the blog...Latavious Williams has made himself eligible for tonight’s NBDL Draft. Williams initially committed to Memphis and then opted to play overseas…Neumann-Goretti guard Mustafaa Jones committed to Hartford. The 5-foot-11 guard chose Hartford over Hampton, New Hampshire, Columbia and Brown, according to Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer. Ouside of just Jerry Meyer, nobody considers Knight to be the nation’s top prospect.
/
blasphemy / November 6, 2009
You mean outside of Jerry Meyer of rivals, outside of scout, and apparently outside of Mr. Zagoria? Oh, I guess you mean nobody as in all of the more respectable recruiting sites. Anyways, I peg you for one that likes the ESPN coverage…… the same coverage that had John Wall as the no. 4 prospect…… lol
/
Big Ben / November 6, 2009
Wall was the 2nd ranked player in 09 behind only Favors. Hard to argue against combining all the recruiting rankings instead of counting on one guys opinion (who likely hasn’t seen everyone in the top 20 outside of all-star exhibitions).
/
Big Ben / November 6, 2009
Wall was 2nd on RSCI.
/
Big Ben / November 6, 2009
Scout has Knight #2 behind Barnes.
/
blasphemy / November 8, 2009
You know what, you’re right, Wall is #2 on Scout. If there was only something to really prove he is the best player in the college ranks……. if only……. Oh ya, didn’t those NBA scouts say he was the clear cut #1 pick in the upcoming draft? BTW, combining **ALL** recruiting rankings is complete bull, and a waste, statistically speaking. I guess they forgot to ask the NBA scouts. What would they know about how good a player is? For the record, I looked at the wrong thing when I went to the website and thats where I got the mix up at. Still though, NBA, Rivals, and apparently Mr. Zagoria all believe Wall is the best player coming out of HS this year. So, you’re wrong wrong and more wrong assuming that only ONE person believes that.

Big Ben / November 8, 2009
The #1 draft pick is rarely the best collegiate player, but rather the player with the most NBA potential.
/
blasphemy / November 8, 2009
Ya, how do they discern NBA potential…….. Oh, they see who the best college players are. I mean, would they take somebody who does horribly in college and think he would make a great addition to their basketball franchise?
/
Big Ben / November 8, 2009
Are you new to this sport? They draft on NBA POTENTIAL. Period. The best player in college basketball is rarely the #1 pick and sometimes not even a lottery pick (occasionally not even a first rounder). It’s 2 different games.

jhawk4 / November 8, 2009
im gonna have to side with ben on this one blasphemy. The best players in college do not mean they will be good in the pros. i could give you countless examples of decent college players get drafted higher than proven great college players because of potential. Wall is a number 1 pick prospect because of his potential
/
blasphemy / November 9, 2009
Ok, to help you understand this “period” as you use as your “proof”. Who was the #1 pick in this past draft? Oh, Blake Griffin, the best player college. Who was the #1 pick in the draft before that? Oh, it was Derrick Rose. I know, these NBA #1 picks have NEVER shown ANY ability in COLLEGE. Keep living the pipe dream you live.

(Not a facetious comment)
The argument was originally about who the #1 prospect coming into college was, then I said that the NBA agents agree that he is great. Big Ben proceeded to pick apart how the #1 pick is rarely “the best” in college from which I have now countered with examples, to which he will counter with examples, to which I will still disagree with him and he with me and this will lead essentially to no where like it always does. Maybe if he stopped trolling for me….. Anyways, the argument that I was giving was that the past two years have seen the best college player become the #1 draft pick. The argument is NOT about how they pan out in the NBA but rather what recruits think about good college players. I could give more examples. T. Hansborough, Ty Lawson, both were pretty great in college and got drafted high. Once again, this argument between me and Big Ben is only about NBA drafting of good college players NOT how they pan out. Hope that clarifys the issue.

Blasphemy,
1) Adam Zagoria is not a scout, but is using Jerry Meyer’s rankings, due to receiving payment for freelance wirting for Rivals.com . He calls up or texts kids, their mothers, and coaches in order to garner information on their ultimate college matriculations. Tom Konchalski is a scout.
2) Did you click the link? If so, (I am assuming that you are of average intelligence) you will see that only One of the seven major recruiting sites has Knight listed as the #1 recruit. Not surprisingly, it’s Jerry Meyer, who has the least experience (by far) among the seven services.

Ava:
1) You missed the entire argument between me and Big Ben
2) You missed the entire argument between me and Big Ben
3) I don’t know how you missed it, it was quite big
4) ASCI DOES NOT factor in NBA scout which you would understand is part of my argument had you simply read me and Bens debate.
5) An average of the rankings is a good indicator, I’ll give you that. But seriously, Wall at #2 ruined it for me. Scout hasn’t lost a bit of respect there from me, but, once again, close enough. I believe if you take out espn’s rankings, ASCI would have Wall at #1. I really do, we call them outliers.
6) Please Don’t comment to this post, but rather to any about the argument between me and Big Ben. If you have some issues with THOSE positions of mine, feel free to bash me, argue with me, etc. Till then, READ ON SIR!
