Devon Collier’s list is now down to four schools, with Maryland out of the mix.

“The schools that have been recruiting him the hardest are St. John’s, Seton Hall, Providence and Oregon State,” said New Heights coach Adam Berkowitz.

Maryland will get visits from Collier’s St. Anthony teammate, Ashton Pankey, Oct. 16 and Long Island forward Tobias Harris sometime in November.

Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson, Barack Obama’s brother-in-law, is out today to watch the 6-foot-8 Collier during a workout at St. Anthony.

After that visit, Berkowitz and Collier will plan visits.

Angel Nunez is the latest high-profile recruit planning to visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 16.

“I spoke to [Kentucky assistant] Orlando [Antigua] and I’m supposed to be going down there,” Nunez said by phone. “Chances are, yes.”

Eric Martinez, Nunez’s mentor, said nothing was definite and plans still had to be worked out.

The 6-foot-7 Nunez, a New York native, is a junior wing at the Winchendon (Mass.) School. He has offers from Louisville, Arizona, UConn, Rutgers, St. John’s, West Virginia, Arkansas, Indiana and Virginia. He is the No. 11 small forward in the Class of 2011.

C.J. Leslie’s high school coach says Leslie has a list of about 11 schools and that there is no clear leader at this point.

“C.J. is still wide open with his recruitment. He doesn’t have a strong leader,” Raleigh (NC) Word of God coach Erasto Hatchett said Friday. “He’s still entertaining about 10 schools as of right now. He’s completed some home visits. He just had his last visit [Thursday] night with Georgetown. Seton Hall was there the night before.”

Hatchett said the 6-foot-8, 205-pound Leslie is considering Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Florida and Florida International.

Memphis head coach Josh Pastner continues to stockpile talented guards from the Class of 2010.

Memphis Sheffield shooting guard Chris Crawford chose Memphis Thursday over Tennessee. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Crawford is the No. 66 prospect and No. 16 shooting guard in the nation.

“I thought long and hard with my mom and prayed on it,” Crawford said at his press conference, according to Dan Wolken of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. “I just really didn’t want to leave home. I felt like I’d be good here in Memphis. It was really a toss-up but I wanted to play here in front of my family and win a national championship.”

“He’s just a player,” one Division 1 head coach said.

After I initally posted this earlier today, I came across Kyrie’s interview with DimeMag where he says this about Duke.

“I guess you could say that I’m leaning toward Duke. I’m just not ready to commit. It was my first visit and of course I’m really high on them and like I said I have that feeling, but I think it’s only smart to compare it to something,” the 6-2 Irving said.

He added: “Well, I’ve got that feeling with Duke, but I want to go on a few more visits to compare it all. I’m not ready to commit yet. I just want to make sure everything is right. Duke and Indiana were my top two schools, and Duke is up there, but I like the other schools too.”
