Seton Hall commit Fuquan Edwin dropped 25 points and Kyle Anderson scored 17 Wednesday night to lead Paterson Catholic to an 82-71 victory over Rice in the championship game of the Paterson Fall Ball at Paterson Kennedy, according to NJHoops-Journal.com.
It was the second straight Fall Ball crown for head coach Damon Wright’s Cougars.
The 6-foot-6 Edwin will sign with the Pirates in November and will be on campus Friday night for the team’s scrimmage with Carleton University. He will be joined by New Heights forwards Devon Collier and JayVaughn Pinkston.
Junior point guard Myles Mack added 20 points and senior guard Jayon James tallied 12.
The 6-7 Anderson, a sophomore, was named Playoff Most Valuable Player after dropping 27 points on 6-of-7 from beyond the arc in an 81-74 semifinal victory over C.J.E.O.T.O. Junior big man Derrick Randall added 15 points in the semis.
Anderson, who is being courted by numerous high-major programs, will take an unofficial visit to Seton Hall next week and a visit to George Washington in the “near future,” according to his father, Kyle Anderson Sr.
Emanuel Andujar paced Rice in the final with 16 points.
Rice downed Paterson Kennedy in the semis 61-47 behind 15 points from Jermaine Sanders.
Shondel Stewart paced Kennedy with 17.
HURLEY COMPARES CARTER TO TAYLOR, DEHERE
Legendary St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley compared senior point guard Elijah Carter to a couple of his best guards of all time. Carter recently committed to St. Bonaventure.
“Not a lot of kids you recruit in high school still have an upside, and he’s got a big one,” Hurley told the Olean Times Herald. “If I was going to compare his upside right now as a player, it’s a little bit like Tyshawn Taylor [who played two years ago for Hurley and now plays at Kansas] or Terry Dehere [a St. Anthony product who went on to a successful NBA career].”
