Pinkston Remains Uncommitted; Nunez to Visit UConn; New York’s Best Kept Hoops Secret

Despite a premature report from ESPN.com’s “Rumors” department, Bishop Loughlin senior forward JayVaughn Pinkston has not committed to St. John’s.

The site, quoting no sources, indicated Pinkston is “ready to announce for St. John’s.”

Kimani Young, Pinkston’s coach with New Heights, says the rumor is blatantly false.

“Although St. John’s is one of the schools that Jay is choosing from. He has not made a clear decision where he will attend school next fall. He has not decided if he will commit early or late. As of today he will be a late signee,” Young wrote in a text.

“However, that could change if he’s 100 percent sure where he wants to go after a few more unofficial visits over the next few weeks.”

Pinkston is considering St. John’s, Seton Hall, Villanova, Marquette and Tennessee.

As first reported here, Pinkston will probably attend the Red Storm Tip-Off at St. John’s Oct. 22; Villanova’s Hoops Mania Oct. 23; and Tennessee’s exhibition with North Alabama Oct. 31.

NUNEZ TO VISIT UCONN

Angel Nunez, a 6-7 wing from New York who plays at Winchendon (Mass.) Prep, will visit UConn for First Night festivities Oct. 16 instead of going to Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness.

“I wanted to go visit Kentucky but I would miss school so instead I’m going to go to UConn,” Nunez wrote in a text. “And I’ll be at Kentucky during my school break over Thanksgiving.”

UConn also expects to have Oak Hill big man Roscoe Smith and Findlay (Nev.) prep point guard Cory Joseph on campus the weekend of Oct. 16.

Nunez has offers from Louisville, Arizona, UConn, Rutgers, St. John’s, West Virginia, Arkansas, Indiana and Virginia. He is the No. 11 small forward in the Class of 2011.

  • The premature news from ESPx is disappointing.
    No sources …?

Also good to hear that Angel Nunez has his priorities.
Not missing school and focusing on this grades.
Arizona is looking forward to Angel visit for Red/Blue game.

    Note:
    Big Ben….
    (wizz,wizz)

Your brought up Terrence Jones, the other day….

TJ and Linda’s trip to OKL should be enjoyable?

But, looking at the school that TJ is interested in…
One of the school does NOT look like a good fit: ucla

Would you agree that their defensive approach and slow offensive are NOT a good match?

  • Not sure what you mean that UCLA plays slow.

Xavier was 157th nationally in tempo rating last year. In 2008 they were even worse (233).

UCLA meanwhile was 155th last year (2 spots ‘faster’ than Xavier) and 213 in 08.

If he wants a quick-paced team neither of these schools are good options. Self and Capel, for instance, play far more up-tempo basketball than Miller or Howland (and both generally rank near the top defensively as well).

  • Big Ben, excellent points. Jessie isn’t big on facts, though. He’d rather talk about off-the-court issues and pimp his Mildcats site…

  • Actually Jessie was kicked off of the Wildcat site he mentioned, not sure if you noticed over the last few days he has not mentioned said site. It is run by true journalist just like this site. Not a clown that steals opinions from a 19 year old kid.

  • UAWildcat, I had no idea but that’s great news for the Wildcat site. The IQ level there just shot way up…

  • UA-Clown,

You have NO idea — what you are talking about.
You obviously have not been reading this site for many months.
Please go back for the last 6 months and read the various comments on AZ’s articles.
(go read : The 2010 Recruit: Battle for Bejarano…..many,many more)

So, let me SPOON FEED YOU.

You ever hear of a thing called providing a SOURCE.
When a story is being drafted and not published….it is difficult to use that source (since it does NOT exist).

In this case, YOU find a CLOWN which has a simliar message….(to the unpublished source)

This concept is very simple….EVEN a clown like yourself should understand.

But then again, the explaination maybe too advance for you .

    LMAO
