ESPN has announced the 2009-10 Big Monday Big East men’s college basketball schedule.

The programming begins January 11 with Villanova at Louisville in a showdown between NCAA Tournament participants from last year. Villanova reached the Final Four and Louisville the Elite Eight.

Louisville, the defending Big East Tournament champions, beat Villanova in both matchups last season, including in the conference semifinals.

Prior to the tip off of the Big Monday schedule, ESPN will showcase Pittsburgh at Cincinnati on Monday, Jan. 4, giving Bearcats freshman Lance Stephenson of Brooklyn (pictured) a national showcase.

Oak Hill (Va.) Academy boasts two of the top seniors in the nation in 6-4 combo guard Doron Lamb of Queens and 6-7 small forward Roscoe Smith.

Both players and their families will be busy over the next few days hosting home and school visits. Here’s the tentative schedules of both.

Sept. 9 – UConn, Kansas

Sept. 10 – Georgetown

Sept. 13 – Florida

Sept. 16 – UCLA

Muhamed Hasani, a guard out of  Pristina, Kosovo who plays for the Kosovo senior national team, is the newest scholarship player at Rutgers.

“We feel very fortunate to add a player of this caliber to our roster at such a late stage,” Rutgers head coach Fred Hill said. “We are confident that Muhamed can be a key contributor. He is a solid player with experience, who handles and shoots the ball well. We are very excited to welcome him into the program.”

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Hasani has played for the KB Sigal Prishtina Junior team since 2005, winning two U18 titles and a pair of U16 championships with the club. Recognized in the summer of 2007 by the Basketball Federation of Kosovo as the best player under the age of 21,

St. Patrick High school just got a little more dangerous.

The Celtics, who already feature two of the top players in the nation in senior guard Kyrie Irving and junior wing Michael Gilchrist, will officially add 6-8 brothers Julian and Chris Washburn, the sons of troubled former NBA star Chris Washburn.

“Those guys are in school today,” St. Pat’s coach Kevin Boyle said Tuesday by phone.

The brothers moved to New Jersey from Texas, where they played at Duncanville High.

Julian (pictured) is a senior wing who could step in and play right away, while Boyle said Chris, a sophomore, might need time to develop. He saw both players briefly at the Poconos Camp this summer.
