The Oklahoma football team will be in Miami on Saturday for a huge battle of traditional powerhouses, but a couple of big-time basketball recruits are headed to Norman.
Calvin Lamb confirmed that his son, Doron Lamb, will take his first visit this weekend to Oklahoma.
Harrison Barnes, the No. 2 prospect in the nation, will also be in Norman this weekend, making this a huge recruiting weekend for head coach Jeff Capel and his staff.
Oak Hill coach Steve Smith also told JayhawkSlant.com that Lamb will visit Kansas Oct. 16 for “Late Night in the Phog.”
Kentucky, Arizona, St. John’s and UConn are also in the mix for Lamb, who will visit a third visit the weekend of Oct. 23.
“From what I’ve heard him say, I think his top three would be Kansas, Oklahoma and the next one I couldn’t tell you. It was Kentucky. But they haven’t been in here to see him yet,” Smith told me last week.
He added: “I think Doron wants to sign early.”
As for the 6-6 Barnes, his visit schedule is set and he is considering North Carolina, Oklahoma, UCLA, Duke, Kansas and Iowa State.
RECRUITING TRENDS
**Josh Selby, Kyrie Irving and Tobias Harris have all eliminated UConn from contention, but don’t be surprised if the Huskies hang around for Brandon Knight. The No. 1 prospect in the nation visited Storrs this weekend, his high school coach, Dave Beckerman, is a Connecticut native and UConn desperately needs a big-time point guard, especially if Kemba Walker goes to the NBA after this year.
**Syracuse remains alive for both Selby and Knight, both of whom say they will wait until the spring signing period. The Orange also have Dion Waiters coming in next year.
**You have to figure Kentucky coach John Calipari will wind up with at least one of these big-time guards: Irving, Knight, Selby, Lamb and Cory Joseph.
**Duke could potentially land a recruiting class of Irving, Barnes and 6-8 Oak Hill forward Roscoe Smith. Imagine if that happened.
**This is a big week for Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez, who has an in home tonight (Monday) with Bishop Loughlin star JayVaughn Pinkston and on Tuesday meets with St. Anthony forward Devon Collier. Both Pinkston and Collier play for New Heights.
**Terrence Jones’ mother, Linda, says her son’s list of official visits should be set later this week.

Hey, don’t be bitter that KU has a great shot with Lamb. Once he comes in for Late Night it’ll be a race for 2nd place…

Bitter?
Not even close to being bitter.
Don’t you find it amusing that Calvin finally got a return call from BS…but, only after C.Joseph’s decision to cut kansas FightClub.
I hope the visit goes well and Doron- Calvin enjoy the visit.
PS- Good luck with Josh Selby or Knight.
That should be an interesting recruiting PG battle.
How is the FightClub thing going?
I could not believe such FIGHTS have been going on for years.
Young men will be young men..Right?

Jessie, not sure where you’re getting your info but Joseph hasn’t really been on the KU radar for quite some time. My guess on Lamb is KU, OU, then UK.
I’m not sure if we have a shot at Selby or Knight. Still not sure if Knight makes it to Late Night or not. We still have some excellent guards after Collins leaves next year. We’ll just have to wait and see.
FightClub is over. Actually, kids will be kids. It’s really sad that they were fighting over a former girlfriend…doesn’t Taylor just snap his fingers and have a replacement?
