Harris Plans to Visit Seven Schools

Tobias Harris enjoyed his weekend visit to Syracuse and says he plans to visit all seven of the schools on his list.

Five will be official visits and two will be unofficial.

“It really doesn’t matter,” he said Monday. “Even if they’re unofficial the visits will still be like official visits.

“Even if I take an unofficial I still wouldn’t be surprised if I go to their school.”

Harris will visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 16 but said he didn’t know the other dates of his visits. Louisville, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Maryland are the other schools.

Harris watched Greg Paulus and the Orange football team beat up on Maine, 41-24.

He also spent time with Syracuse players Wes Johnson, Rick Jackson, Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph.

“It went well,” he said. “I had a good time. It was a good visit. I went to the football game and just chilled with the team.”

Syracuse Jim Boeheim emphasized to Harris that he could be a “point forward” in the Orange offense, something Torrel Harris has said is critical to the decision-making process.

“He said I was somebody who could come in and be able to score and be able to create plays, be a playmaker in the offense,” Harris said.

Harris has also been in touch via Twitter with former Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“I knew him since last year,” he said. “I met him at the Syracuse elite camp.”

Two of Harris’ AAU teammates with the Unique All-Stars, C.J. Fair and Fab Melo, are committed to Syracuse, but Harris says the Orange aren’t necessarily his leader at this juncture.

“It was my first visit so they’re not like a leader,” he said. “That was the first time. It was my first visit. I had a fun time. I know all the visits are going to be good so I don’t really have a leader right now.”
