Rutgers coach Greg Schiano say “its 50-50” whether true freshman quarterback Tom Savage plays in Saturday’s game at Maryland, according to Keith Sargeant of the Home News Tribune.
“I really couldn’t tell you definitely what’s going to happen,” Schiano told reporters after Thursday’s practice, according to Sargeant.
Savage was knocked unconscious in the fourth quarter during last Saturday’s 23-15 victory over Florida International. Defensive end Armond Willis landed on his head, Savage told reporters.
“We’ll see,” Schiano told reporters. “We still have some time here before kickoff.”
If Savage isn’t ready to go, fifth-year senior Dom Natale would likely get the nod.
Natale started the season opener against Cincinnati and was replaced at the half by Savage after throwing three interceptions.
