Seton Hall to Host 2011 NCAA Regional

Seton Hall will host the East Regional of the 2011 NCAA Tournament March 25th and 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark.

That will mark the first time that the city of Newark has hosted the Big Dance. In past years, the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. has hosted NCAA Tournament games.

Anaheim, San Antonio and New Orleans will also serve as Regional sites in 2011.

“Having recently completed the Final Four site selection process, the committee knew this would be a challenge,” said Dan Guerrero, director of athletics at UCLA and current basketball committee chair. “We received some 70 bids and each city could, justifiably, provide a quality championship experience for the student-athletes. Interest remains incredibly high in hosting the championship.”

Host cities for the first- and second-round games include Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Tampa, Tucson, Tulsa and Washington, D.C., where Georgetown will host at the Verizon Center.

The 2011 Final Four will be played in Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
