Jeremy Lamb to UConn

Jeremy Lamb, a 6-4, 165- 2010 shooting guard out of Norcross (Ga.) High, has given a verbal commitment to UConn, choosing the Huskies over Texas and Georgia.

Lamb is the No. 17 shooting guard in the class according to Rivals. He averaged 11 points in 15 minutes last season.

“Coach [Jim] Calhoun and Coach [Pat] Sellers were down here today and Jeremy was able to commit face-to-face,” said Lamb’s high school coach, Jesse McMillan.

“I think it was a combination of things. He can play pretty quickly because UConn is losing a lot of kids,” McMillan said. “Coach Calhoun made him a top priority because Jeremy can play the one, two and the three. His primary position is shooting guard, but he can play point guard, too.

“The thing that intrigues everyone is his length and his size. He’s 6-4 with a 6-11 wing span. He can cover a tremendous amount of ground and defend people. And his mid-range game is excellent and he has the ability to stretch the defense as well. He can play multiple positions, he can guard and he can stretch the defense.”

Rolando Lamb, Jeremy’s dad, also said UConn made his son a priority:

“I think No. 1 they made Jeremy a top priority from the first time they saw him play at the Peach Jam in early July,” Lamb said. “They have been consistent in the recruiting process. We went on our official visit and saw how it’s a family atmosphere and they do a great job of developing their players and there’s an opportunity for Jeremy to play early in college.”

  • U Conn did get a very good shooting guard.

And a continuation from last week’s discussions.
Memphis violations impacting UK basketball program.

DID UK commit more than ONE VIOLATION? YES.

“Last week, there was mention of Kentucky Wildcat violations.
    Yes, many violations.
UK ONLY reported ONE to the public.
BUT, the COUNT is up to THREE, officially.
(Can you guess how many NCAA official are at Lex….watching Cali and ..www….over or under 10?)

“Former University of Kentucky basketball staffer Bilal Batley received a “letter of admonishment” for committing a secondary violation of NCAA rules, the school acknowledged Tuesday.
In response to an open-records request from the Herald-Leader, UK said that Batley violated an NCAA rule on July 2 when he “participated countable athletically related activities with a student-athlete.”
Batley, who followed new head coach John Calipari from the University of Memphis, shagged rebounds for a current player. He also advised the player to shoot from particular spots on the floor, the UK letter dated Sept. 1 said.
Batley, whose title was men’s basketball administrative assistant, violated NCAA Bylaw …. when he interacted on the court with a current player,….

Batley has resigned and returned to his native Houston ….

In response to the open-records request, UK revealed TWO other secondary violations involving the basketball program earlier in the year.
Former assistant Tracy Webster violated a rule by engaging in a conversation with a prospect before April 22, which was prior to the permissible contact date.
He received a letter of admonishment. “..
    WHO WAS THIS PLAYER/RECRUIT??

“Another violation occurred May 26 when a current player — whose name was redacted in the open-records release — had his name used in an advertisement for The Reggie Warford Basketball Camp.
The player was unaware of the advertisement,….” source:Jerry.Tipton

  • Yes, but how many rebounds did he shag? More than a dozen would make him worse than Hitler.

  • boris-

is it ridiculous? yes, but thats beside the point. it was against the rules. i agree with you that its stupid but, he should know better.

  • It was Darius Miller. UK and REAL UK fans have known about this for several months. A small KY county hosted a basketball camp and its its brochure stated Miller was going to attend. The ad made it look like Miller was sponsoring the camp. Miller found out about it, withdrew from attending the camp, and reported it to Calipari. UK reported all 3 of these pissy violations to the NCAA, sorry but not the other way around.

    Quit hatin,

Im sure youre a Cards fan and begging for ANYTHING to cover up the bastard coach your school employs
