Patterson School Closing; Recruiting Notes

The Patterson School, a basketball powerhouse in Lenoir, N.C.,  is shutting down for a year and basketball coach Chris Chaney is now a free agent.

“I think the school will open back up but I doubt the basketball program will be like it was,” Chaney said.

The story was first reported by Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com.

Chaney said he plans to visit a number of college practices during the year and plan his next move.

“I’m going to take the year off coaching and go to a lot of NBA camps and a lot of college camps,” he said. “Go to all the colleges that I have good relationships with and go see practices and work my next move. I have a lot more time to make my next move,” he said.

Ahmad Ibrahim, a 6-5 guard who was at Patterson, is now at St. Benedict’s Prep with Dan Hurley.

  • Adam, i want to know if you think that St. John’s has a legitimate shot at getting Tobias Harris.

  • Oak,
It’s going to be tough with Louisville, Kentucky, Syracuse and UConn in the mix, but Torrel was definitely impressed with Coach Roberts and their meeting.
