NEW YORK — Jada Ellie Clijsters is too young to understand what her mother accomplished on Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Open, but maybe someday she will look back and fully appreciate it.

Kim Clijsters, an unseeded wildcard and the mother of one-and-half-year old Jada, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Open with a thrilling 6-0, 0-6, 6-4 victory over No. 3 Venus Williams before a rocking crowd and amidst a swirling wind in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
