'Nova's Redding Suspended for Fall Semester; Sypher Says Pitino Threatened Her

Villanova guard Reggie Redding has been suspended for the fall semester.

Redding, a 6-foot-5 senior, was arrested on campus earlier this month and charged with possession of a “small amount” of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Radnor (Pa.) Police.

Redding can practice with the Wildcats but cannot play in any games until after the fall semester ends Dec. 18, meaning he will miss the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Redding faces a hearing on the charges on Thursday, according to the Delaware County Times.

“I believe the process was respectful and fair to Reggie. He is a quality person, who, with the support of his great family, met this head on and has learned a valuable lesson from this experience,” Villanova coach Jay Wright said in a statement.

Police were responding to a minor traffic accident in which a car hit a traffic sign on campus and determined through the university database that it was Redding’s car.

Yet Redding’s attorney, James Famiglio, told the Delaware County Times that his client was not the driver.

“Mr. Redding did not hit the sign,” Famiglio said. “He was not driving the car in which the alleged material was found.”

Redding played in all 38 games for the Wildcats last season, averaging 7.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists as Villanova advanced to the Final Four in Detroit. He made the lob pass that set-up Scottie Reynolds’ buzzer-beating driving shot against Pittsburgh in the Elite Eight.

SYPHER SAYS PITINO THREATENED HER

The New York Post has this interview with Karen Sypher in which she says she wanted to have the baby, but Louisville coach Rick Pitino told her no.

“I’ll never forget. I wanted to have the baby, but Rick said my children would all be in concrete. I lived in fear for five years,” she said.

“I prayed to God, ‘Please, I don’t want this.’ When they called my name [at the clinic], I stood up.”

JAMES STAYING AT PC

Jayon James has decided to stay at Paterson Catholic instead of transferring.

“I’m staying at PC,” the 6-5 senior guard said. “I thought it was a good decision to stay. I’m real close with all my teammates. We’ve been together since 5th grade so I see no point to leave now.

“I didn’t go to visit any other schools. We planned on going to St. Thomas More on Monday but now I’m staying. We don’t need to go up there now.”

  • AZ,

Looks like there maybe a movie deal for the Karen LONG LEGS and Rick affair.

M.Fox will be playing the part of Karen Cumagain.
    C. Diaz as another woman ‘friend”.
    Andy Garcia as Rickie.

There is something strange about an ALL WHITE SUIT…. pimp.

But, this STORY gets more and more strange……ARE THERE OTHER WOMEN??
If so, Pitino’s creditability would be damaged…

Before she made her accusations against Pitino, a father of five, Sypher would frequently run into him at social gatherings.

“Rick would come up and give me a hug, and it was like I was being raped again,” she said.

“I can’t explain how bad it was. I would dread every party. I just wanted to come home, but I had to be the wife and play my part.”

Sypher also claims that she is one of many on Pitino’s list of conquests.

“There are other women,” she said.

“He has a reputation as a philanderer. I’m definitely not the first. I pray they come out of the woodwork.”

  • How about printing the whole statement?????

“I’ll never forget. I wanted to have the baby, but Rick said my children would all be in concrete. I lived in fear for five years,” she said.

“I prayed to God, ‘Please, I don’t want this.’ When they called my name [at the clinic], I stood up.”

But paperwork Sypher filled out at the clinic, which she provided to The Post, contradicts her account.

She checked off boxes indicating she felt “confident” and “strong” that she was doing the right thing.

Sypher also checked off responses indicating she did not think abortion was akin to murder and that she would not regret having the procedure.

Meanwhile, the 49-year-old provided the media with a voice-mail message from Pitino that contradicts her claim. Speaking of the pregnancy, Pitino says, “I think that the best thing in all scenarios is to go through with it [have the baby], but that it has to be your call.

“I think, I really can’t give you any advice, except I have thought about it,” he said.

“This is a very unfortunate situation . . . You just let me know what you’re gonna do.”

She decided on an abortion, and since she did not have health insurance, Pitino says he gave her $3,000.

  • Printing that is quote is truly irresponsible and deceitful. It make some wonder what i your agenda.

  • The link to the whole story is right there for anyone to read it. Thanks.

  • The recording was an obvious memorialization of an assumed reluctance by Spitino …….Andy Garcia would be perfect …..Ashley Judd ( as a blonde) could play Karen ….wink wink

  • charlize theron would be perfect to play karen

  • Too bad Jay doesn’t run a clean program like Calipari does….. recruiting thugs will always backfire .

  • pastaboy, jay actually runs a program better than ur butt-buddy calipari. has jay ever had a final four stricken out of the record books? nope. how about be possibly have another final four stricken out? nope. cal recruits thugs pastaboy. remember sean banks, jeremy hunt, or kareem cooper? cal recruited all of them. sean and jeremy beat their gf’s and kareem was speeding in millington while high. all got dismissed from the program, but jeremy hunt eventually came back to help lead memphis to an elite eight. redding is simply suspended for a semester. so next time pastaboy, crawl out of cal’s a** and check the facts

  • jay is the epitome of class and dignity. calipari oozes slime and recklessness. he is good at getting top players and putting them in a good system, but he can’t coach X’s and O’s or develop the talent. Derrick Rose would have been a top 5 pick out of high school and the same goes for Tyreke Evans. Jay can recruit and coach which was observed on a national stage when Nova beat Pitt in the NCAA tourney. Also, he recruits to his needs, not his wants as cal does. Jay developed Dante Cunningham into a second round pick. get over ur man crush of calipari pastaboy

  • what happened pastaboy? daddy cal not let u get on the computer or are u too scared to admit that once again u were wrong?
