Villanova guard Reggie Redding was busted by Radnor Township police Tuesday morning with a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Philly.com.
The 21-year-old Redding was released and issued a summons to appear in court.
Villanova head coach Jay Wright did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
According to Philly.com
Villanova Public Safety officers told Radnor police that a traffic sign had been struck by a car. The car was found parked in one of the dorm lots and later identified through the student database as being owned by Redding.
The Public Safety officers interviewed Redding, who subsequently removed from the car two plastic bags containing suspected marijuana and a grinding device. Field tests indicated the bags contained marijuana.
KENNEDY TO WINCHENDON
Speaking of Villanova, Markus Kennedy, a 2010 Cats commit, has been formally admitted to the Winchendon (Mass.) School.
“Markus interviewed very well last week,” Winchendon coach Mike Byrnes wrote in a text. “He was accepted into school early this week. We are finalizing the financial aid papers to complete the process.”
This will be Kennedy’s fourth school in four years, including a stint at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick under Kevin Boyle.
Villanova coach Jay Wright suggested Winchendon after his previous school, Living Faith Academy, closed.
“I feel pretty good about it, but I really didn’t have a choice,” Kennedy, who averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds last season for Living Faith, told the Philly Inquirer. “My family wants the best for me and this will be the first time I’ll be away from home for an extended period of time. That will be hard to adjust to, but I think it’s something I can get used to doing.
“I think what’s important is that people know the truth. They see four schools in 4 years and think something is up. But I know coach Wright only accepts character players and I would have been back at Living Faith if the school was still open.”
At Winchendon, Kenndy will play alongside several former New York players, including Angel Nunez (Cardinal Hayes); James Stukes (Rice) and AJ West (Lincoln).
