**Phoenix traded Shaquille O’Neal to Cleveland for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, a conditional 2010 second round pick and cash

Seton Hall picked up its first commitment of the 2010 Class when Fuquan Edwin verballed on Thursday.

He picked the Pirates over Providence, which he visited earlier this week.

Edwin, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound forward out of Paterson (N.J.) Catholic, made the commitment after visiting the school for two hours Thursday with several family members, including his mother, Anisa Thomas, stepfather, Hassan Hargrove, and grandfather.

“I felt like it was home for me. I felt comfortable,” said Edwin, who averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds last year at PC.

“We walked around with my my mom, my uncle and my step-pop and we talked to the coaches.”

Old Knicks

Now that Shaq is gone from Phoenix to Cleveland to team up with LeBron James, could Steve Nash be the next star departing the Valley of the Sun?

Appearing in New York Wednesday for his annual charity soccer game, Nash told reporters that he wouldn’t mind playing for the Knicks beginning in 2010, when he will be a free agent.

“Obviously I love New York City; I’m making this my home” Nash, who lives in SoHo during the offseason, told the New York Post. “Mike D’Antoni is one of my favorite coaches. So in a lot of ways it’d be amazing. But it’s not simple; a lot of stuff has to go right for me to be in New York. And I’m happy in Phoenix. We’ll see what happens.

Arizona, Florida, Oak Hill Academy

New York point guard Lamont “Momo” Jones committed to Arizona Wednesday, choosing the PAC-10 school over Florida.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Jones is the No. 11 point guard in the Class of 2009.

He initially committed to Louisville, then Virginia Tech and then USC, but secured his release from Southern Cal after Tim Floyd resigned in the wake of the O.J. Mayo scandal.

“He left a message on my phone and said he did [commit to Arizona],” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said by phone.

NBA Draft, Old Knicks

NEW YORK – On the night his countryman Pau Gasol was taken with the No. 3 pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, Ricky Rubio stayed up until 2 or 3 a.m. in his native Spain watching the proceedings on television.

“My mom was like, ‘Go to bed,'” Rubio said Wednesday at the Westin Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

“Now I’m here.”

Sporting shaggy hair and a few days stubble on his 18-year-old face, the 6-foot-5 Rubio met a throng of media and declared it his dream to play in the NBA after competing professionally in Spain since he was 14.

“I want to play in the best league in the world,” Rubio said.

Though most experts predict that Rubio will be among the top two or three picks taken in Thursdays’ draft, Celtics GM Danny Ainge doubts that Rubio can make an impact as a rookie.
