Eric Bledsoe knows where he wants to go to college, and he’ll tell the world on Wednesday.
“Yeah, he’ll announce it Wednesday,” Parker (AL) coach Maurice Ford said Monday by phone.
The 6-foot-1 Bledsoe visited both Memphis and Kentucky this past weekend and has made his decision between the two.
“He had a good time at both schools,” Ford said. “He enjoyed both of them.”
Bledsoe is ranked No. 3 among point guards by Rivals.
Current Memphis head coach Josh Pastner recruited Bledsoe when he was an assistant to John Calipari at Memphis and Bledsoe said the two still have a close relationship. Bledsoe said Pastner told him the Tigers would run even more than they did under Calipari.
“[He said] they was going to run even more, more than Calipari did,” Bledsoe said in an interview with the Memphis press last week. “He was going to work hard.”
Point guard John Wall of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God is the No. 1 recruit in the class and is widely viewed as Kentucky’s first choice to play point guard. Wall has a long list of suitors including Kentucky, Duke, Baylor, Kansas, N.C. State, Florida, Memphis and Miami.
Wall has yet to cut his list.
Asked if it bothered him that Wall was considered Kentucky’s first choice, Bledsoe said: “No, sir. No it don’t. I’m going to play my position either if he do go or he don’t.”
Asked if they could play together, Bledsoe said, “Yes, sir.”
The 6-foot, 160-pound Bledsoe averaged 20.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 10.3 assists in leading Parker to the Class 5A state championship game. The Thundering Herd beat Kentucky-bound big man DeMarcus Cousins and Mobile (AL) LeFlore 52-39 in the semifinals.
“I’m a pass-first point guard,” he said. “I can help everybody get to where they need to be.”
Memphis has produced back-to-back one-and-done point guards in Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans, and Bledsoe said he liked the fact that he could step in and follow in their path.
“It’s a point guard school. They make point guards go to the NBA,” he said. “That’s how I like it. I could step right in and be the guy, that’s why I like it.”

I find it hard to believe nothing has leaked yet. . . Anyone got anything?
/
UKcatXXXL / May 4, 2009
it’s probably Memphis
as much as I want him going to UK (so that UK has 2 top point guards running the show), I find it hard to believe Bledsoe would go when Wall is probably going to UK
/
jayhawker / May 4, 2009
I think Bledsoe goes to Memphis and Wall stays in state and goes to NC State.
This is just my opinion, no sources, just my opinion. Wanted to clarify that before someone freaks out like a few people on here do
/
Gohard / May 4, 2009
I think he may stay in-state to stay close to his mom or is it grandmom? And Bledsoe will go to Memphis. Cal loses out. Either way, if they both go to UK john wall will only be there for a yea so Bledsoe will get some experience his freshman year and takeover after Wall leaves.
/
truebluefan / May 4, 2009
I am hoping he goes to Memphis. We need a top recruit like this to get us back as a threat to land top recruits every year. Bledsoe fits our needs too.
/
UKcatXXXL / May 4, 2009
I’m reading he is probably going to UK……….
HOPE SO
/
katfan77 / May 5, 2009
im pretty sure he knows WHY memphis was PGU & it was NOT the name across the chest.
/
katfan77 / May 5, 2009
IF UK got these 2 & IF they kept patterson & meeks (pretty sure its a sure thing on meeks) UK is back next year.
/
Big Ben / May 5, 2009
UK sources have everyone going to UK all the way up until they choose elsewhere. It’s amazing UK fans even remotely respect their ‘recruiting gurus’ any more.
/
UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009

Does anyone actually believe Evans is going to play PG in the NBA? He’ll be a shooting guard. The only reason he played pg at Memphis is because they didn’t have a better option. One great PG (Rose) doesn’t make the school PG U.

UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009
imitation is the greatest form of flattery
so thank you
/
UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009
it isn’t the skool (Memphis)……..it’s the coach
Calipari
and now he is at UK……..
/
MemphisTigerLance / May 5, 2009
You call that a confirmation? Someone familiar with his thinking believes he will choose Kentucky? That’s very vague. Maybe there’s some validity to it, maybe there’s not, but it’s hardly a confirmation.
/
UMtigerinNC / May 5, 2009
Hey fat-cat,
that article does not confirm him going to UK. IF anything it looks like his coach was talking up UK and Bledsoe was talking up UM (the article that made you think he was coming to Memphis yesterday).
/
UMtigerinNC / May 5, 2009
If it is all about the coach then why did he not land X. Henry after he forced the clause in Henry’s LOI that allowed him an option to follow Cal if (when) he left for KY?
If it is all about the coach then why are most KU fans touting the great KU tradition as the main reason that they will once again dominate in B-bal?
If it all about the coach then why is our un-tested first year coach even in a recruiting battle with Calimari?
If it is all about the coach then why is your braindead fan base still trashing C-USA as a conference that nobody wants to be a part of?
If it is all about the coach then why is Pastner and the UM on the short-list of EB, and three other top recruits?
Finally if it IS all about the coach, then I feel sorry for KU. The way we see it, you guys just bought a great used-car salesman with the hopes of getting all of UM’s (obviously not Cal’s) recruits. We took a risk on Pastner and it looks like Pastner will come through.
No offense, but I hope you guys continue to live in the past because it only helps us get more top-notch recruits.

katfan77 / May 5, 2009
you must have had one hell of a man crush on Cal.

even Memphis knows Bledsoe is going to UK
so stuff it
I’ll battle all of you
/
UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009
the topic was point guards……..
is X Henry a point guard?????
NO
and it is the coach 90% of the time regardless
but Henry was a rare case, his whole fam went to KU………..so it isn’t that surprising he went there
is it???????????
/
UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009
there is no battle, Bledsoe is going to UK
you need to calm down
if you want to consider me as every UK fan as suggest, so be it
I personally do not bash Memphis, I think you will have a quality team next season…….and I have said that before on here (and then got trashed talked by that pansy usctrojan for doing so)
that little weasel
anyhoo……….
and if you think recruiting isn’t based mostly on the coach, ur simply incorrect…..coach is 1st and tradition of the school is 2nd…….90% of the time
and what “other” 3 recruits are u speaking of exactly?
Wall is not on the memphis list……..in case you didn’t know it
also, I am not sure who you are addressing because KU is Kansas…..
I am…….and WE ARE UK!
/
UKcatXXXL / May 5, 2009
if you wanna wait till tomorrow to believe it………be my guest
/
blueberry / May 5, 2009
I’m not going to battle anyone but my coach Pastner sure is putting up a good fight for only 3 weeks on the job. Gary Parrish has been right on everything for as long as I have followed him so I will be the first to say congrats UK fans. We will move on and up in the future i like what i see from coach Pastner even if we missed on this one.
/
Big Ben / May 6, 2009
Not sure I’ve ever heard an NIT team brag as much as UK fans are this spring. There have been plenty of teams with this much freshman talent. The only one to ever win anything was Syracuse. Good luck even winning the weak SEC with that coach and those players.
/
Big Ben / May 6, 2009
The kid’s not expected to qualify anyway (at least not for anyone but Kentucky), so I’m not sure the loss is all that major.
