La Salle's Murray, Pitt's Taylor Win All-Star MVPs

LaSalle-bound big man Aaric Murray was named MVP of the Senior Showcase in Orlando Saturday after scoring 19 points in Team USA’s 118-111 win over Team Florida.

Arizona State commit Victor Rudd had 16 points in the game. Darius Morris (Michigan) and Jeronne Maymon (Marquette) each scored 13 points  and  Glen Rice Jr. (Georgia Tech) added 12, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The 6-11, 265-pound Murray averaged 17.2 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks last year at Glen Mills High (Pa.). He is ranked No. 35 in the class by Rivals.

In other La Salle-related news, point guard Malik Stith of Bridgton (Me.) Academy visited St. John’s this weekend and will visit La Salle Thursday-Saturday.

At the Reebok All-American Game in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, there was good news for Pitt fans, who are losing Sam Young, Levance Fields and DeJuan Blair to the pros.

Pitt-bound forward Dante Taylor was one of four MVPs as Team Finish beat Team Create 134-131 in the National Game. And fellow Pitt-bound big man Talib Zanna pulled down 21 points and 14 rebounds in the Preview Game.
