Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn will sign with NBA agent Leon Rose, who is also LeBron James‘ agent, according to Mike Waters of the Syracuse Post-Standard.
Flynn, a first-team All-Big East selection, had initially said he would test the waters and leave open the option of returning for his junior year. If a player doesn’t sign with an agent, he can return to campus.
Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris have already said they will leave Syracuse for the pros. Now Flynn will join them.
Draftexpress.com and NBAdraft.net both have Flynn going No. 15 to the Detroit Pistons.
That leaves Andy Rautins, Mookie Jones and Scoop Jardine as the lone returning guards at Syracuse. Those three, along with Brandon Triche, the Co-Mr. New York Basketball with Lance Stephenson, will lead the backcourt.
CINCY, RUTGERS NOT RECRUITING LANCE
Despite rumors that Lance Stephenson has reached out to Cincinnati and Rutgers, both schools emphatically deny that that is the case.
“We haven’t talked to Lance,” said a source within the Cincinnati program. “I don’t know how that got put out there. We’ve never talked to Lance or his dad.”
Sources at Rutgers said the same thing.

Adam,
The rumor mongers on UC web sites refuse to believe this. They think UC would lie to cover up their recruiting efforts. Have any of your NY sources ever heard of a UC/Lance connection?
Thanks

Tonight both Sherron Collins and Cole Adrich announced they will return to Kansas next season.
I don’t follow KU very closely but I seem to remember someone, on some website, saying that with the ’09 recruits that already signed LOI’s with KU at least 3 players would have to transfer or enter the draft or KU would be at the maximum 13 scholarship players. Thus no room for Lance (or anyone else unless they walked on).

KU has one scholarship to give for next season.

Nope, Kansas was oversigned by 1 player for next year. With 2 transfers that opens up 1 spot for either X or Lance whichever decides first or maybe for Daniel Orton, a top 10 PF, who is not at all happy that the coach that was going to develop him at Kentucky got replaced with World Wide Wes’s caddy. When he committed to UK last fall he said his 1st choice was Kansas but Kansas snagged Thomas Robinson and thus didn’t have room for him.
And so it goes.

Wow the Cuse would of been my preseason #1 and a virtual lock for the Final Four. Can you imagine the year Flynn and Devo would of had in that backcourt. I have a feeling Devo, and Harris took off after finding out Flynn was bolting. Because they are both borderline 2nd round picks and a Final Four run might of got them 1st round consideration and a guaranteed 3 year deal. Without Johnny they said the hell with it.
