NEW YORK – It started out as a basketball game and nearly ended up as a prizefight.
In the end, Eric Devendorf and No. 6 Syracuse delivered the knockout punch with a game-changing second-half run and emerged with an 89-74 victory over No. 11 Seton Hall before a huge pro-Orange crowd of 19,375 at Madison Square Garden.
Two altercations threatened to send the game spiraling out of control in the second half, but the Orange emerged from the chaos with an 18-3 run that put a close game out of reach.
