Lance Stephenson and his parents, Lance Sr. and Bernadette, sat directly behind the Kansas bench Saturday night as the No. 15 Jayhawks beat Nebraska 70-53 at Allen Fieldhouse.
The student section greeted Stephenson with a standing ovation, a sign that read “Born Ready to Rock Chalk” and a “Rock Chalk Stephenson” chant in an effort to urge the 6-foot-5 guard out of Brooklyn Lincoln to select the defending national champions.
Stephenson, a McDonald’s All-American and the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2009 according to Hoop Scoop, is also considering St. John’s, Maryland, USC and UCLA and was taking his second official visit. He also visited Maryland officially and St. John’s unofficially.
Interestingly, on the same day Stephenson visited KU, Maryland toppled No. 3 North Carolina 88-85 in OT in College Park, Md behind a career-high 35 points from Greivis Vasquez.
Kansas has several players with ties to the metropolitan area, including freshman guard Tyshawn Taylor out of Jersey City St. Anthony, freshmen big men Marcus and Markieff Morris out of Philly and freshman forward Quintrell Thomas from St. Patrick of Elizabeth (N.J.).

I hope that Lance comes to KU. Brandon Rush was being talked about just like Lance.. He has behavior problems or he is too selfish etc….Look what Self did with B. Rush. Lotter pick
Lance thinks he is a lottery pick now, and he might be, but so did Rush and he was…….

Does it really matter where he goes. I mean he will be a one and done kid. These alleged superstars should take a long look in the mirror and figure out what they want to do with the rest of their lives. I would give him a 1 in 500 shot at being an NBA impact player.

I don’t care where he goes because none of these kids that play for one year matter to me. They should go right from junior high school to the pros and bring their greedy parents along with them. Then when the kid is a bust in the NBA (can you say Luther Wright) they will end up blowing their signing bonus and end up working at McDonald’s so they will be a true McDonald’s high scholl All-American
