Meeks Drops 54 on Tennessee

Jodie Meeks hit ten 3-pointers en route to a 54-point performance, leading Kentucky past Tennessee 90-72. Meeks broke the school record for three-pointers made, held jointly by Tony Delk and himself, and his 54 points bested Dan Issel’s 53-point game on Feb. 7, 1970.

He shot 15-of-22 from the floor and 10-of-15 from beyond the arc.

“I just give credit to my teammates for finding me on the wing wide open and the coaching staff did a great job getting us prepared,” Meeks told ESPN. “This is great, I’m speechless right now.”

Meeks had never won at Tennessee before and said that was his goal.

“No matter what I wanted to win this game,” he said. “My first two years I never won here. And I wanted to get the win tonight and I’m all about winning.”
