Jamie Skeen to VCU; Recruiting Notes

Jamie Skeen has chosen to transfer to VCU, choosing that school over Seton Hall and South Florida, according to a source.

Skeen was declared ineligible for the fall semester at Wake Forest for violating the school’s academic policy and told the team that he would not appeal for reinstatement to the university.

Skeen will have two years of eligibility left but will have to sit out a year.

In two seasons at Wake, Skeen averaged 6.6 points and 4.4 rebounds. He was named North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball in 2005, the same season he led North Mecklenburg to the N.C. 4A state championship.

**In other Seton Hall-related news, I hope to have in interview later tonight with DeAndre “Big Daddy” Kane, the Patterson (NC) School wing who visited campus this weekend.

Also, Scout is reporting that Marvin Dominique, a 6-6 wing from Miramar (Fla.) High, lists Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Georgia Southern and Seton Hall among those recruiting him.

St. Patrick of Elizabeth guard Kyrie Irving told Scout Notre Dame, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Duke were recruiting him the hardest. Irving is a tremendous player who will pair with Dexter Strickland after sitting the state-mandated 30 days to form what should be the state’s top backcourt.

Another St. Patrick guard, Derrick Gordon, tells Scout his list includes Florida, Florida State, Western Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee and Rutgers, and that Western Kentucky is his favorite.
