I know this is a sports blog, but sometimes events in the real world are too juicy to pass up. Here’s video of an Iraqi journalist throwing his shoes at President George Bush.
“So what if the guy threw his shoe at me,” said Bush. “It is one way to gain attention. It’s like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It’s like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers.”

Yeah Bush….he gave Irag their freedom . Why cant this journalist ,who has watched hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis killed in a war that makes no sense. Who has watched he country get blown to pieces,driven into civil war . Watch first hand while the U>S eviscerates Iraq. Why cant he not realize that Bush has freed him,improved his quality of life filled with daily bombings, no electric, no or little education for it;s young. He should be praising Bush. Cant this nut case see how much has improved since Bush has freed the country?
BTW looks like it wasn’t the first time Bush had to duck a shoe .

One thing that a lot of people in the US don’t realize is how incompatible capitalism and democracy can be with religion. To truly be religious and function at a high level in a capitalist society is damn near impossible, and lots of Iraquis have realized that, one reason for resistance. So that can be hard for some very religious people there to swallow, and on top of that they have been a part of a very difficult war. Don’t get me wrong I love my freedom and I’m more than happy here, but not all people feel that way and I wouldn’t go judging them for being resistant to something you happen to appreciate, because that’s really ethnocentric regardless of how ridiculous of a stunt this was.
