Rutgers freshman big man Christian Morris will transfer at the end of the semester.
“Christian wants to join a program that will provide him a significant increase in playing time,” said head coach Fred Hill. “We support Christian and our staff will aid him in the pursuit of this opportunity. He has worked extremely hard during his time at Rutgers and we are very appreciative of his contributions to our program.”
The 6-foot-9, 280-pound Morris, a New York native who spent two seasons at South Kent (Conn.), has played five games this season and averaged 1.8 minutes per game.
Morris has seen limited playing time so far as Rutgers has opted to go with junior Hamady N’Diaye and freshman Greg Echenique for many of the minutes in the frontcourt. Morris was a DNP in yesterday’s loss to Binghamton.
We hear he could be headed to a school in the Northeast Conference.
