Michael Snaer, the No. 5 shooting guard in the Class of 2009, could announce his college choice this week.
Snaer initially said he would announce Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, but has now pushed that back. Until when remains unclear.
Snaer, out of Moreno Valley (CA) Rancho Verde, will choose from among Kansas, Florida State and Marquette. He eliminated UCLA and Missouri, according to JayhawkSlant.com.
“I want to get it out of the way. I think it’s that time,” Snaer told Gary Bedore of KUSports.com.
If the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Snaer chooses Kansas, the Jayhawks would be over by one scholarship for 2009. With the two guys they’ve already gotten commitments from — Elijah Johnson and Thomas Robinson — that would bring them to 13 ships for next year. They would need a second player besides Sherron Collins (who may go to the NBA after his junior year) to leave early in order to open up another ship for a fourth commit.
That, in turn, could influence Xavier Henry, who is down to Memphis and Kansas. Henry, who is recovering from surgery to repair a fractured cheekbone suffered in a car accident last month, says he will wait until the spring.
If Snaer chooses Kansas, Henry may be tempted to pick Memphis, where his older brother, C.J. Henry, plays.
Another wing player, Dominic Cheek of St. Anthony in Jersey City, is considering Kansas, Memphis, Villanova, PIttsburgh and Rutgers. If Snaer picks Kansas, Cheek may also decide to pick one of the other schools. Cheek skipped his official to Pitt last weekend because of a root canal. HE won’t be at tonight’s Rutgers exhbition, either.

If this guy commits self probable lost any hope of getting Henry, Cheek, or Wall. He is going to have no scholarships left. He should of held off on giving out 7 scholarships to this years class.
