Solid as Barack on SNL; Al Qaeda Endorses McCain

If you missed Saturday Night Live last night while watching the World Series, the big news was that “Weekend Update” co-host Amy Poehler missed the show to give birth to her son, Archie. Poehler appeared on SNL up to last week, when she did this hilarious hip-hop take off on Sarah Palin. There was no sign of Poehler, Palin or Tina Fey last night, leaving this “Solid as Barack” skit as the highlight of the night.

Without Poehler, SNL had to rewrite and scrap certain aspects of the show. The result was that Coldplay appeared four times instead of the usual two, allowing lead singer Chris Martin, aka Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow, to endorse Barack Obama for an even larger portion of the show via the armband on his right arm. Check out these entertaining clips.

Also, I couldn’t help but link this New York Times op-ed saying that Al Qaeda has endorsed John McCain.

“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.
