Rutgers Readies for UConn

Greg Schiano gave his weekly press conference Monday as Rutgers (1-5) heads into Saturday’s noon kickoff against UConn (5-1) at Rutgers Stadium. Here are a few quick highlights:
**Domenic Natale, a 6-2, 210-pound redshirt junior who transferred from Michigan State, has been elevated to the No. 2 QB spot behind starter Mike Teel. He replaces Chris Paul-Etienne.
“Dom is healthy again,” Schiano said. “He wasn’t in full force (earlier). He’s a lot closer to it than he’s been.”
**Schiano on UConn RB Donald Brown, a Red Bank (NJ) CAtholic grad who leads Division 1 in rushing yards (177.8 ypg) and TDs (12).
“Donnie Brown is one of the best running backs in the country….This week we face a back who’s a dominating, traditional tailback. He runs strong, breaks tackles.”
Schiano added that Brown never “got away” from Rutgers because he was never offered a scholarship.
“He didn’t get away,” he said. “We didn’t offer him a scholarship. Certainly he’s been a great player for Connecticut.”
**Schiano on whether he would consult former Miami coach Larry Coker, the color analyst on ESPNU.
“That’s a good idea. I’ll probably give him a call today.”
**Gametime for the Oct. 25 game at Pitt is set for 3:30 on ESPN.360.
