Patterson (NC) School head coach Chris Chaney says Seton Hall and Maryland are leading right now for 6-7, 190-pound PF Arsalan Kazemi.
“The only two schools he’s definitely going to be visiting are Seton Hall and Maryland,” Chaney said.
“It will probably be back-to-back. Seton Hall wants to go first. I think Maryland wants him to visit Oct. 18” for Midnight Madness.
Seton Hall has successfully recruited Patterson kids in the past, most recently sophomore guard Jeremy Hazell. Chaney said the Pirates have a legitimate shot at Kazemi, who is hoping to become the first Iranian to play American college basketball.
“I think they got a really good shot at Arsalan,” he said. “Arsalan really likes them and right now it’s only them and Maryland that he’s considering.
“Somebody might come in. But it seems like he wants to sign early and the only two definites that he’s going to go to are those two schools.”
Seton Hall is also courting 6-10 forward/center Hassan Whiteside of Patterson.
“He’s very, very long,” CHaney said. “He can play the four or five. He just beginning his recruiting phase right now.”

It would be nice for the Hall to get someone that is already committed for next year’s recruiting class.

What type of player is Kazemi? I know he’s listed as a PF but it seems like he might translate to a SF at the D-1 level being that he is 190 lbs and seems versatile from what I’ve read about him.
Also, are there any updates on the Karron Johnson front? Is his academic background really that shaky?
