Jarrid Famous, a 6-foot-11, 235-pound center from Westchester Community College, will take an official visit this weekend to Seton Hall. The visit follows an in-home visit that Jarrid and his father, Jerome, had last Tuesday with Pirates head coach Bobby Gonzalez and assistant Derm Player.
“He gave his word that he would come out to Seton Hall for a visit, but he will hold on some of the visits until the spring,” WCC associate head coach Dave Vandiver said. “Missouri and West Virginia are possible schools, but we talked to Jarrid and his father and said that we might want to save some of his visits until April. He might decide in the spring.”
Five Big East schools are in the mix: St. John’s, Seton Hall, UConn, West Virginia and DePaul.
St. John’s came to watch Famous workout last Friday, and UConn was also in last week.
OKlahoma State may come today (Monday), and Missouri will watch him later this week.
Players can take five official visits. If Famous commits this year, he would have two years of eligibility left at the D-1 level beginning in 2009.
TRENT TO WASHINGTON
Clarence Trent, a 6-8, 230-pound forward out of Tacoma, Wash., committed to the University of Washington. Trent plays at Findlay (Nevada) Prep.
Trent is the fourth player from Findlay’s senior class to commit, following Avery Bradley (Texas), DJ Richardson (Illinois) and Carlos Lopez (UNLV). Trent averaged 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
“Clarence chose to return to his native Washington over California after visiting both schools,” Findlay assistant Todd Simon said.
