Dominic Cheek Sets Visits (UPDATED)

Dominic Cheek has a preliminary plan to visit several colleges.

Cheek, the No. 6 shooting guard and No. 19 overall player in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals, will make official visits to Villanova, Kansas and Wake Forest, and then choose two more visits from among Tennessee, Memphis, UConn, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Seton Hall.

“I sat down with him Wednesday night and the three visits he has scheduled to organize were Villanova, Kansas and Wake Forest,” St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley said.

“Out of the other schools we were going to select two: Tennessee, Memphis, Indiana, UConn, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Pitt. We were just scheduling home visits first. I want him to wait until closer to the college basketball season to make the school visits.”

Omari Knight, Cheek’s uncle, said Villanova, Kansas and Wake Forest “have been in the mix for a while, so it seemed like a good idea that they would get an official.”

Asked when Cheek might pick the other two officials, Knight said: “I have no idea on that one, or even if he’ll take those two visits. Whatever he decides.”

Knight also said Cheek “may visit Tennessee  (unofficially) Sept. 19-20.”

“I still have to talk to (the Tennessee) coach and make sure everybody’s schedule is OK,” Knight said. “I’m trying to take one visit at a time.”

Hurley said he was unaware of this plan.

Cheek recently visited Villanova unofficially, and also attended the Fresno State-Rutgers football game Sept. 1. He has also been to Seton Hall unofficially and a home visit with Pirates head coach Bobby Gonzalez is in the works for early this week.
