More Bad News for KU: Players Busted With Weed, Women

Between the Markieff Morris shooting incident and the Sherron Collins not practicing situation, it has not been a good few weeks for defending NCAA champion Kansas.

Now comes a report by Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine that Mario Chalmers and DArrell Arthur were thrown out of the NBA’s rookie transition program at Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook, N.Y. on Wednesday morning after being caught in their hotel room with marijuana. Jeff Goodman added in his story that the players also had women in their room Tuesday night.

“They were sent home for violating program rules,” NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said.

Sources told Broussard that Chalmers and Arthur were also fined $20,000 apiece and will start the regular season on the suspended list.

“We’re still looking into it,” McIntyre said. “Once we have all the details, appropriate sanctions will be taken.”

Chalmers hit a critical three to force overtime against Memphis in the NCAA title game.
