Prior to the Fresno-State-Rutgers football game on Monday, Rutgers unveiled the Rutgers Stadium Club, the new club and mezzanine level seating area that is part of the $102 million renovation of Rutgers Stadium. The plush area includes 852 club seats, 28 loge boxes, 72 outdoor flat screen TVS, as well as mounted heaters for the cold weather.
“It adds a great game-day atmosphere for our fans,” said Jason Baum, Rutgers assistant athletic director for communications. “I think the general public will be thrilled.”
Food is served from two buffet lines and a cash bar includes Coors Light, Blue Moon, Yuengling and Sam Adams Octoberfest on tap. Additional indoor flat screen TVs and various lounges will eventually allow fans to keep up with the baseball playoffs and other sporting events while the football games are being played.
The price of a club seat is $3,150 per seat and a four-seat loge box is $17,600. A portion of the ticket cost is paid in the form of a charitable contribution. For a club seat, the contribution is $2,500 and for the loge box, it is $15,000.
OBAMA TO ATTEND UNC GAME?
Rumors are swirling that Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama will attend the Sept. 11 Rutgers game against North Carolina on ESPN. Obama is due to be in New York for a 9/11 event that day, and it would make sense for him to attend the game to generate more exposure. New Jersey is a swing state.
