Durand Scott Narrowing List

Durand Scott has narrowed his list and is planning his visits.

Rice head coach Mo Hicks said Scott will visit Pitt, Miami, UCLA and Louisville officially and Seton Hall and St. John’s unofficially.

“We have to set his schedule of visits,” Hicks said.

“He’s going to visit Pitt, UCLA, Miami and Louisville and he’s going to do the unofficials to St. John’s and Seton Hall.”

UConn, Xavier and Memphis are also on the list for the 6-foot-4, 180-pound Scott, the No. 12 shooting guard in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals.

“At this point, the other official could come to Seton Hall or St. John’s,” Hicks said. “We’re saving it for one of the locals.”

Scott will play on Friday in the Boost Mobile Elite 24 event at Rucker Park, along with Lance Stephenson of Lincoln, Dexter Strickland and Mike Gilchrist of St. Patrick, Tristan Thompson of St. Benedict’s and Dominic Cheek of St. Anthony.

  • P-I-T-T Durand!!! 🙂

  • I’m Pretty Sure that this will come down to Pitt vs Miami battle and the potential to play in the big east and periodically play in new york, will win out for Pitt in this battle. I just don’t see him going that far away from home, plus Pitts been there since the beginning with him. The only reason i don’t see him picking pitt is because of guard Depth there. Miami is a bit less crowded down there so that may play to there advantage. But I do know that Durand has a great relationship with Herrion and has really taken to his new recruiter in Brandin Knight.

Whats your opinion on this topic Adam?

  • After talking to Durand today, I’d say he’s pretty open among the 8 schools he listed – UCLA, UConn, Memphis, Pitt, Miami, Virginia, Tennessee and Xavier. UCLA and Tennessee are new players in the mix, but he sounded intrigued. Pitt and Miami have both been involved for a while so I’d imagine both of them would get officials, but we’ll see.
