Xavier Working Hard on Parrom

Kevin_parromXavier head coach Sean Miller and assistant Book Richardson are working hard to recruit players in New York and New Jersey.

The school has offered scholarships to 2009 player Kevin Parrom of South Kent (Conn.) and 2010 standouts Doron Lamband Jayvaughn Pinkston of Bishop Loughlin and Markus Kennedy of St. Patrick.

The 6-foot-6, 185-pound Parrom, a junior small forward, recently took an unofficial visit to Xavier.

“It was a great visit,” he said. “I had great time out there with Coach Richardson and Coach Miller is a great guy.” Parrom has known Richardson, the former head of the Gauchos program, since he was 4 years old.

Xaiver has graduated 73 seniors since 1985 and has sent 14 players to the pros in the last 14 years.

Parrom is also considering Marquette, St. John’s, Rutgers, South Carolina, Pittsburgh, Providence, Clemson and Rhode Island. He has been to Rutgers and St. John’s unofficially.

“I’m looking to chop it down this summer,” he said of his list.

As for his summer schedule, Parrom is at the NBA Top 100 Camp in Virginia this week and will take a visit to Marquette June 26 with teammate Omari Lawrence. He plans to attend the Reebok All-American Camp July 6-10 in Philly.
