Jayvaughn Pinkston Update

PinkstonOne name to keep an eye on in the coming months is Jayvaughn Pinkston, a 6-5 sophomore combo forward out of Bishop Loughlin in Brooklyn who plays for the New Heights AAU program.

Pinkston has received interest so far from Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Villanova, UConn and Florida, according to Loughlin coach Khalid Green.

“He has interest from a lot of teams in the Big East,” Green said. “St. John’s offered a while ago. Villanova offered. Seton Hall is interested. Rutgers is in the mix. He’ll have a busy summer ahead of him.”

A strong player who can put the ball on the deck as well as rebound and defend, Pinkston has a bright future ahead of him.

“I think Jayvaughn can go as far as Jayvaughn wants to go,” Green said. “He has the physical capability as long as he puts in the work. He can be a significant player in high school. He can be a three in college. Next year we want to have him out on the perimeter a little more.”

As for the status of Pinkston’s teammate Doron Lamb, Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said he had heard from Lamb’s mother about potentially sending the young man to the school in Mouth of Wilson, Va. Green said he wasn’t certain what Lamb’s plans were for next season.
