Sampson Disputes NCAA Charges

Kelvin_sampsonFormer Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson is disputing NCAA charges that he violated NCAA rules by making recruiting phone calls and that he acted contrary to its principles of ethical conduct, according to documents obtained by Sporting News.

According to Mike DeCourcy, Sampson filed his official response May 8 in advance of Indiana’s hearing before the NCAA infractions committee, which is scheduled to take place June 14 in Seattle. Although Sampson no longer is employed by Indiana and has accepted an assistant coaching position with the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, he will have the opportunity to defend himself against the charges.

What’s interesting is that several names of local interest are mentioned in the documents, including twins Marcus and Markieff Morris, now committed to Kansas, and Devin Ebanks and his mother, Yvonne Jackson. Ebanks is due to announce this weekend whether he has chosen Memphis, West Virginia, Rutgers or Texas.
