Maurice Sutton, a 6-11, 210-pound forward/center from Largo (Md.) High School, will visit Seton Hall this coming weekend.
“(Sutton) wil be there this week,” his coach, Lewis Howard, said Monday by phone.
One week later, Seton Hall is tentatively slated to get visits from another big man, 6-11, 340-pound center Melvyn Oliver of Mississippi Elite Christian Academy, as well as 6-7 wing Jonathan Mitchell of Mount Vernon, who is transferring from Florida.
Sutton, originally from Newark, is ranked No. 30 among centers in the Class of 2008 and averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 9 blocks per game while leading Largo to the state 3A championship. In one game earlier this year against Crossland, Sutton had 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks.
Sutton also holds offers from Indiana and Boston College and Kentucky, Villanova and Syracuse are also interested, Howard said.
“He likes the Big East,” Howard said. “The Prudential Center is a great facility and he’s got family there in the metropolitan area, so it’s a tremendous opportunity.”
Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez visited Sutton and Howard and told them the young man would “be able to come in and contribute and bring a dimension that they definitely need at Seton Hall.”
